Spurs thread 2014-2015

Spurs are well short of being a top4 team Erickson and Lloris had to play like men possessed to keep it competetive

They have a defence that can't keep them out and a strike force that can't put them in. Not a good combo!

Bizarre day today.

I think we won comfortably in the end due to Spurs' poor performance in the middle.

But equally Spurs were saved a right hiding by our profligacy up front too.

We could have lost or dropped points as they did look dangerous on the break, but couldn't finish and when they almost did, Hart stepped up with some worldies.

On the other hand, if we didn't think that only Kun is allowed to shoot, then I shudder to think what might have been the score. All things being equal, it could well have been 12-5

They have a cracking player in Eriksen.

You can see pocchetinos influence in the way they press from the front. Their first goal was a carbon copy of the one they got at arsenal. It's just a shame for them the majority of their defence is shit.

It might sound mad considering we lost 4-1 but I thought we played really well today. Up until that penalty miss we were well in the game. Great game of football, it had everything, penalty saves, loads of chances, goals and a sending off. If we play dreadful we concede six, if we play well we concede 4, now we have to play sensational next time to only concede 2.

If we had a better defence we would be making teams like Arsenal, United, Everton and Liverpool panic for fourth place

Sergio is world class, fantastic player
But you've always seemed to have a shite defence Crouchy. I'm 51 now and I can never remember your mob having a watertight defence, even going back to the Steve Perryman days. You've always seemed to be a team that can be ''got at''. Back to your original point though; yes, you did play fairly well today. That 15-20 minute spell before half time was very shaky for us. Your penalty miss was a big, massive even (sniff!) turning point. What could have been 2-2 turned into 3-1 a few minutes later. That knocked the fight out of you.

What do you mean? Under Gross and Ardiles we were solid as a rock!!! I do agree it's never been watertight, maybe when you first won the title that's the best I've seen us defensively perhaps, even though you stuffed us 5-1 I think you set all sorts of premiership records that season

Think the Spurs defence is not helped by the lack of help from some in front. Would be looking to ship Soldado and Lamela at the earliest opportunity if I were Pochettino.

Lamela is improving and Soldado had a great game minus the penalty miss. Adebayor has been pretty useless this season. I'm hoping MP gives Soldado another start against Newcastle

Sorry but Lamela cost Spurs the first two goals and, subsequently, went AWOL. Wandered around thereafter as if the gods were conspiring against him. Soldado missed the penalty and then hit straight at Hart when he should have scored- 'great'?
He may be better than Adebayor but that doesn't mean Spurs fans should settle for that.

I thought he was linking up well with Eriksen and Soldado the first half. I don't want to go on too much about the penalty but I thought it was harsh (How is Lampard? Not heard anything) - I thought our defence could have done better with the other too. Kaboul blows hot and cold too much, and today he was poor again. I don't think any Spurs fans settle for our strikeforce but that's as good as it's going to get until it gets changed up. With Adebayor deciding to be lazy again under a new manager it's time to give Soldado a chance

Lamela's one of there better players. As mad as it sounds I think he'd be even better with better players.

A good team in a decent system, but with huge weakness in the two most crucial parts of the pitch, striker and centerback. They've gone backwards since selling Bale and not letting any of the managers decide who to bring in and it's hard to see them ever doing well while Levy is at the club. Lloris and Eriksen are top quality though, they'd get in just about any team in the league.
