Spurs thread 2020/21

Just looking at Spurs squad now with the new additions coming in...

Hugo Lloris
Joe Hart
Paulo Gazzaniga

Matt Doherty
Sergio Reguilon
Ben Davies
Toby Alderweireld
Davinson Sanchez
Eric Dier
Japhet Tanganga
Serge Aurier
Juan Foyth

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
Harry Winks
Dele Alli
Giovani Lo Celso
Tanguy N'Dombele
Moussa Sissoko
Gedson Fernandes
Dele Alli
Eric Lamela

Ryan Sessegnon
Lucas Moura
Steven Bergwijn
Son Heung Min
Gareth Bale

Harry Kane

You look at that squad and that is a VERY talented group of players. If you could get certain players motivated, they will be a handful for anybody in the league. Look at their first starting 11 and subs...

Lloris

Doherty
Reguilon
Sanchez
Alderweireld

Winks
N'Dombele
Lo Celso

Son Heung Min
Gareth Bale
Harry Kane

Subs: Hart, Davies, Dier, Alli, Sissoko, Alli, Lucas Moura

Can't even fit Bergwijn and Hojbjerg on the bench!

If you can get Lo Celso on top form and N'Dombele motivated, they will be some side. That attack on paper is fantastic and the two full backs are a HUGE improvement on what they had. You could mix it up and bench Winks for someone a bit more physical like Sissoko or Hojbjerg and also try and motivate Dele Alli and bring him in for Lo Celso if needed.

They have quite a few options now. The two negatives about Spurs, Alderweireld is ageing and they probably need more cover at CB and Jose Mourinho is their manager. If Poch was in charge of this team, it would start going places.

The top 6-8 teams in the league are going to be very, very tough games for City. Spurs improving, Chelsea improving, Man Utd improving, Liverpool improving, Arsenal improving and Wolves will be as tough as usual. Some real tough games ahead for us, for sure.
Too many there. Only 25 isn’t it?

I think it's adorable that you don't mention the millstone around the clubs neck and the fact that they will continue to be also rans while he is in charge. This lot under Pochettino would have been interesting, but under Mou? No worries.

That is the thing... on paper it is a very talented group of players... but as long as Mourinho is in charge, they won't be going anywhere anytime soon. Poch would do well with this group.

If the spuds can keep Bale fit they are certainly going to improve IMO, if he plays as well as he can do he's a definite match winner for them.

He has lost his explosive pace and I don't think he is really capable of adapting his game to compensate for that. The other good thing he is already injured

I could add that the £175m is about twice what Spurs earn on average from gate receipts and CL prise money a year. So it appears the loan wasnt brought in to just cover lost revenue for the end of last season and this. Doesnt sound like there was a lot of duediligence by the Bof E when handing out an unsecured loan? ! Levy looks to be is using the money to buy players and move money from higher interest loans to the gov one. The lack of scrutiny and criticism by the press and football authorities isnt very good imo, especially given the scutiny and criticism we receieved even after being exonerated over FFP. I dont hear the loan even mentioned when I listened to Sky reporters fawning over Bale returning at £300 - £600k a week.
It becomes pointless debating with him after a while because the only thing he won’t consider is what we all know to be true.

He tried to tell me the other day that Spurs lost out on way more than 12 events at the stadium from lockdown to the start of this season.

5 league matches leaves 7 NFL games or concerts before August.

They also lost £200 million, couldn’t afford £500,000 wages, had to get a loan to bale them out (no pun intended) for £175 million, may have a full season of reduced income, have no Champions League money this season but can suddenly afford £30 million on new signings plus £300,000 per week for Bale’s wages.

But Levy wasn’t shamed into reversing his decision. We must remember that.

Spurs were no where near a title challenge when bale was best player in the league
Personally think he will have great moments, have shit moments, get injured and play more golf
I think after doing nothing for two years he will struggle
Mourninho doing Sanchez part 2

Gareth Bale out till the end of October with a knee injury, what planet do these clubs live on.

The guy is a walking sicknote , yet they still sign him and give him 100s of thousands of the queens finest to play golf!

All I can think of is Levy think the club can make money from merchandise and sponsors.
