Spurs Thread - 2021/22

Great post there and I agree, I wasn't quite born yet but did alot of the hostility arise after the '81 Cup Final? I don't understand it either really. As you say our clubs have lots in common including bring over shadowed for much of our respective histories by our supposed 'bigger' rivals. That's good that you mentioned that you still don't get the tourist or daytripper type fans as I was going to ask what 'old school' City fans make of how things are now. Would you say there's a change in atmosphere in the ground to say the 90's?
There was a lot of trouble in 81 and I went to both matches. It did leave a bitter legacy for a long time. Some City fans still hate Spurs because of what went on.
People always look back with rose-tinted glasses. Personally I love the Etihad and I was born and brought up very close to Maine Road in the 60s and 70s. The truth is that for most of the 70s, 80s, and 90s the atmosphere was pretty shit at most top flight stadiums. For every big match there were games where people were rattling around half full grounds including Liverpool, United etc etc. This was true of all clubs and the attendance statistics prove it.
The atmosphere in the Etihad has been fantastic for big matches but not for the run-of-the mill games. Our fanbase has been spoiled by success in recent years and that is no different to other fans who taste success. The older fans have been on the rollercoaster so we view things differently. I am biased of course but City's away support is great and always has been. Leeds away have always impressed me. There was a time in the 80s when they were getting 13,000 for home matches but still taking 6,000 away. I always think it is the hard-core that really matters. The Sheffield clubs are both great as well for the same reasons.
The atmosphere last Sunday was better than any I have ever been in at White Hart Lane though as a City fan I have only been there for a handful of our matches.

Good read. I started going as a young kid in 1991 and was just overawed by the whole thing with obviously no basis for comparison with regards to atmosphere compared to previous years. Thinking back now though the atmosphere in the mid to late 90's was pretty flat - not helped by Spurs being so mediocre back then. You're right about the atmosphere on Sunday, it was incredible. The mixture of fans having been deprived of going to games for so long together with the Kane situation obviously contributed

There’s a change of atmosphere in the ground to the '90s, as it’s a different ground!

Massive hypocrites.

Giving him pelters last couple of weeks, now they’re chanting his name.

Cünts.

Haha and you lot now think he is a waste of money. You ain’t no different.

Would have been a waste of 150m greedy cunts
Yep. You don’t need those 30 goals a season. You will have an ageing united legend to score them for you. The reality is that you are shopping in charity shops because you can’t afford Harrods.

'Can't afford'? Really? Refusing to go over our valuation is more the truth.

And if you see Spuds as Harrods of the football world, your delusion is complete.

Ps, check my vote, I didn't want Kane from the off ... ;-)

Got to give ‘arry his due…..he probably watched the CL draw today and saw the club he really wants to play for being drawn to play Europe’s elite in the most prestigious club competition in the world, and then had to psych himself up to pit his skills against FC Whodefeckarethey who qualified by coming 3rd in the Freedonian super league, and still knocks in the goals.
He‘s a star!

Hahahahahahahaha

Can you start posting in the joke thread?

The delusion and jealousy is off the charts with this ignoramous!

Keeping a player who clearly does not want to play for you is a master stroke.

Trying to screw City out of an unrealistic fee is not going to happen. We have money, trophies, prestige and you have levy and furlough.

So again…hahahahahahahahaha
