Spurs Thread - 2021/22

Yeah - look at us......
I wonder if this is where City renting the ground actually comes in handy, haha. Although, to be fair, when we moved stadium we'd just finished 9th in the league and it took us another five seasons to finish in the top half again after we moved. Arsenal haven't ever recovered to the levels they were at before they moved to the Emirates. West Ham are back in the top 8 now but they finished 7th in their last season at Upton Park and went backwards for four seasons once they moved. I think Spurs are in for a lean few years while they pay the debts off.

Levy and Conte.... a marriage made in hell

They've offered him an 18 month contract apparently cos even that bellend Levy can see it won't end well

Conte is actually a pretty good result oriented manager. Wouldnt be a surprise if Spurs drop Manure out of top 4 with Ole at the wheel

At times our behind the scenes team have been questioned on here but how well run is City in comparison to teams like Spurs? The way they are run is an absolute shit show!

Spursy fucking spurs. It seems like every season we play them at home early on while they can still be arsed. Can see them heading back to where they were when redknap took over - just above bottom three.
I'd fucking piss myself if they went down and Kane finishes his days in the championship.
I am old enough to actually remember Spurs being relegated . It was fucking great!!!

They aren't going to get the calibre of manager they had hoped and, if they wait any longer, they will be down before January comes around.

He's good enough for what they need right now and he's available with Premier League experience. He also has a powerful ally in Jorge Mendes, when it comes to perhaps picking up a player or two when the window reopens.

They'll be down by Christmas with Nuno have you not seen where Spurs are with a squad 10x better?

Since August they've got 2 wins and 5 losses and one of those wins was vs. Newcastle.

That's on track for 32 points a season. With Kane, and Son, and Moura, and Really solid players like Hojbjerg and Lloris and half a dozen 50m+ signings.

I can't see any reason why Nuno would instantly roll back the clock 18 months with a terrible Newcastle squad.

Conte is a highly-political operator. I wonder if he is also looking to give clubs like United and Newcastle a push?

Wouldnt be surprising. Rock up in London then take a few days to think about it. Barcelona were supposedly talking to him too.

Ultimately, one has to think Spurs would have had a good indication before sacking Nuno.

Very surprised Conte is in talks unless Levy has spouted BS over transfer budget.

The one pull factor Spurs have over the rags is that they will allow Conte to go after his own transfer targets (if they have the money).

A lot of the moaning from Spurs fans is that they have played in a negative manner and been too defensive under the last two managers. Hope Levy realises Conte is a defensive manager. Might get a tune out of Kane though as Lukaku thrived under his management at Inter.
I wonder if Levy has bullshitted him with saying Kane's going in Jan for £200 million and he can have that to buy Icardi or some other overpriced thug he likes.

No they werent, Conte doesn't play the "Barcelona way" and thats a big NO when it comes to them selecting their manager

The most spursy of spurs moves. I don't know what they thought they were getting, seems as though they employed him just to get somebody in knowing they'd sack him before Christmas and waste a season.

Shambles of a club, they had a glorious chance to cement themselves at the top for the foreseeable future when their highpoint coincided with the decline of others and they've squandered it in a manner only Spurs could manage.

All this talk about Levy being a shrewd operator is bullshit he's saw them go from potential league challengers to mid-table mediocrity in record time, you usually only see that decline when a club sells off all its best assets and at least have pocketfuls of cash, they've sold nobody, they've been mismanaged at the very top worse than Arsenal during their descend into mid-table irrelevance.

Conte won't end well because spurs don't have the squad or money to get anywhere near top 4 for years however if they get him in it at least rules him out of going to United and makes them less likely to sack Ole so I'm all for it.

Agreed. Approached and rejected by so many managers before appointing about their 14th choice in Nuno and now another payout for them to pay Him and no doubt his backroom staff

I think you may be giving Levy too much credit there .

Grim times. Appointing a manager you clearly had no faith in is reckless management of a football club.

So Levy was claimed to refuse to yield to Conte's demands over the summer, which is why it fell apart.

I can totally see how, now that they have sacked the manager they appointed instead, have no summer to make transfers in, are playing catchip in the table and have a demottivated team and star player, Conte's position is now so much weaker that he might soften his stance on his demands!
Was just going to post the opposite
IMHO Conte has got Levy exactly where he wants him and Levy will be desperate to get Conte as the fans will riot if he doesnt
