I don’t agree. (In the least surprising news ever)
When Levy took over, Spurs were perennial relegation strugglers, the brand have been destroyed by Sugar. We had gone from the club that Paul Gascoigne choose over all others to the laughing stock of the division. WHL was intimidating and atmospheric but it was falling down. The training facilities were championship standard. We were going the same way as Sunderland, Pompey, Leeds and indeed City. He was struggling to make any progress throughout the 2000s.
The only thing he had was a large fan base and the income that provided. FFP saved him. And Spurs. It bought him a little space and protection from smaller ambitious clubs. It was only after FFP that he started to make progress.
Will we regret it? Who knows? If it fucks City and Chelsea, then no, we won’t. If the Qataris or Meta buy Spurs then maybe we will.
