Spurs Thread | 2025/26

The problem is, as we found to our cost, once the rot sets in, it’s very hard to rid yourselves of it.

This isn’t a one-off for Spurs by any means; they finished just above the relegation places last season for a reason. This term is a continuation of the gradual decline ever since the Champions League final.

If they do avoid relegation this season, nothing suggests they won’t find themselves in the same situation next year.

Just like with the rags, it could be problems further up the chain of command inside the club than the footballing activities.
It seems that the eye-watering levels of incompetence on the pitch at Spurs has somewhat surprised the PL.
The PL have turned blind eyes to Liverpool’s £50 mil imaginary stadium costs, the long term interest-free owner bungs at arsenal, the rags £40 mil covid claims and their staggering billion pound levels of debt, and now Chelsea’s litany of corruption for which they have been punished with a slap on the wrist. All very bad but all these clubs at least survived by being half decent on the field.
Spurs are the odd-men out, having at least, not been financially inept, (as far as we know) but have been incredibly incompetent on the pitch.
The only way that they, as the other legacy club who obviously must never be allowed to see Carrow Road or St. Andrews on a wet Tuesday, can be saved is for the PL to ensure that decisions go the ‘right way’ on the field.
Meanwhile we are being vilified and dragged through inquiry after inquiry for something they may have happened a long time ago and is no longer of any relevance.
It’s a funny old game!

Don't mention their insider-trading episode though. I mentioned it once but I think I got away with it.

So-called big clubs used to get relegated. United City Leeds Villa Forset Chelsea and others, but now the Premier League is such a closed shop that a so-called big clubs getting relegated will be a disaster in terms of what's next

Spurs, not so long ago, were a top 4 or 5 club and Champions League finalist and they built a new stadium.
Going down could set them back 10 years ? players, managers, coaching staff, backroom staff, will be the first to get the boot. The owners will be in panic mode and under pressure to repay the loans taken out and debt will be called in

Just think how bad it could be and then double it. Overnight, you are a championship-level club that every club in that league will see you as a cup final and will want a piece of you, Spurs don't have the fight in them to stay up, so how are you going to cope when teams like Stoke PNE are full of fight
Yes but they have form for dropping into the lower league, regrouping ,and coming straight back up immediately with some gusto too....they beat someone 9-0 at WHL ,orient ?
Collin Lee scored 4 in that match, and England international winger Peter Taylor. and Glenn Hoddle were both brilliant all season long ,led by record appearance holder Steve Perryman...
Bounced straight back up...

Edit. Just checked and it was Bristol Rovers they trounced 9-0.... similarities with our beating of Huddersfield 10-1 after we went down....

I have family in N London, many of whom are Spurs fans but still decent people despite that.
I feel we should have more in common with them as two big clubs with large fan bases and records of under achievement (not now obviously)
But …….they tried to do us over so……FUCK OFF SPURS!!!
I feel sick

It was the old days when teams could come up and win the 1st divison straight away. It wasn't really about how much money you had because the system was a lot fairer and the top 4 or 6 places were not a closed shop. I even think you were only allowed 1 or 2 non-British players

Spurs go down this time, it could be over for them ? The whole club has to make major cuts from top to bottom
Most of the players will be released for a start, then you need championship players. Then, the dreaded money side of it, with major losses and debt repayments. Going down for a so-called big club can lead to decades of re-building

Maybe but Spurs will be straight back like they were last time and like utd were in 75.
Something about those two clubs......not going to be allowed ever to fade away unfortunately.

Doubt they will even go down...think back to Everton FC ,never ever been relegated from the top flight ...were about to be ..a few decades ago ..until hans segers for Wimbledon dived over a 35 yard shot from Everton midfield player barry horne..... What a surprise !
,EFC stay up on last day of season...John Fashanu ,suited and booted ,watching on the Wimbledon bench...lot of money floating on that result..
I digress.

A blatant fix.

Out of that lot i still fancy west ham to get more ..........Wolves should be a win ........Palace away is off the back of palace away at Florentina ............. ...i think whoever sits 3rd bottom after the next 3 games in the PL are the ones to go down
