Spurs Vs City Post Match Discussion thread

Re: Any doubt of offside in Spurs goals

No doubt on offside on any goal scored out there today .....

and Spurs were shite for most of the game .....

but in that short 'purple patch' of theirs our defending was pitiful.

Hope Milners injury isn't long, he was immense in the first half. Nasri and Tevez also did really well.

Barry seemed to have an off day and I think Kolarov is getting some unfair flack, he did alright and was a victim of Spurs tactical change more than anything.

We both played with 10 men most that match, Adebayor and Dzeko were both horrific but they remedied that before we did.

As for Dzeko:

That felt different today.

I've seen him play well and I've seen him play bad, what I saw today was a man who didn't care. I've defended him before but I don't think he wants to be here anymore, I think he knows he'll never be number 1 here and has just given up fighting for that.

Regarding him staying on for so long, I think Mancini was giving him a chance to prove him wrong inspite of starting badly. Mancini turned out to be wrong but I don't blame him for that, you'd expect Dzeko to at least try.

I'd rather us have a half fit Guidetti on the bench/pitch now than Dzeko.

We were never the same in the second half.

Milner going off really damaged us and bringing Kolarov on wasn't the right move. It meant we had a player who would just sit out wide which left huge gaps in the middle which was made worse after there substitutions. Plus Nasri got moved to the right where he just wasn't the same. But there wasn't much Mancini could do, maybe bring Garcia on instead? He was never going to being Sinclair on now was he.

Just move on from this and get the the end of the season now and hope we win the FA cup. Lets not be too disheartened!

I'm a Mancini inner but he's had a horror show today. If he didn't want to risk Aguero, why put him on the bench? We've seen the desperation of Lescott up front again, seriously, where is the suggestion of this being a good idea come from? Milner got injured, fair enough, but apart from Barry who is too slow, that wiped out our graft in midfield. AVB saw this and added Holtby while Mancini sat on his hands and did fuck all.

Aguero was on the bench because we had no players in the squad to go on the bench - attacking options that it.

For me he was jsust making up numbers, and another reason our squad depth is a myth.

If Mancini knew this game was going to change the title race he would of risked him, but he knows and we should know by now it's over.

Tottenham are playing for something and we are not, the performance poved that today

Didn't think we could get any worse after the Wigan game but we did, the players seem to be just going through the motions once we score one. Hopefully they will get a rocket up the arse and have it pointed out that the fans expect some effort until the last game of the season. That second half performance lacked desire and effort and was not worthy of the fans that travelled, maybe the club should refund the entrance fee.

To be honest i didn't feel that Spurs were any threat whatsoever for 70 minutes (until Defoe's introduction) , but then enjoyed a short 'purple patch' during which our defending was poor , to say the least ....

Kompany maybe could ask one or two questions of himself for the first couple of Spurs goals , and Nastasic might have done better for the third ..... but overall , it has to be said , that we we completely threw that game away.
This just about sums it up. There were quite a few comments in the match day thread stating that the game was starting to drift away. The gaffer sat on his hands and we got punished.

I agree so I don't get this Mancini slating because it just didn't look too good for Spurs until they scored.

To be fair to Kompany, that cross from Bale was just perfect. And against Defoe, the very same, he tried to block it, didn't succeed but what a goal that was.
Must be joking?
I was certain everyone could see the game getting away from us that second half. If fans can see this, then the manager should do surely?
Tactically Mancini can be very poor at times.
