Right lets put this to bed. Demichelis tackles Ade from behind/side gets the ball, but in the modern game, is a foul.
Booking a bit harsh. So when Rose does exactly the same in the penalty area, what do you expect. Red a bit harsh.
We can't have these rules and then dismiss them when circumstance doesn't suit us. Us fans that is.

Both tackles from behind with one outside the area = yellow card and the other, inside the area and clearly denying a goal scoring opportunity = red card.

Whats your point?

What about when the comedy juggler comes on and starts in the penalty area - are they exempt from yellow card and penalties too?

It isn't a penalty unless the player continues to hold on to the ball after he has caught it. Personally, and I agree with michael owen on this, I think the defender dropped the ball quickly enough for it to not be a handball. :)

Just looking at a few Spurs forums and pretty much to a man they believe that goal should have stood.

How on earth anyone (BT sports employees aside) can look at that and not conclude that Ade is offside is just baffling to me.
Re the pen, as others have said, anywhere else in the pitch 9/10 times it's a foul. I don't see the big fuss. Red seems harsh but rules are rules.

The worst decision of the night was to ignore the 'tackle' on David Silva. The second worst was to award the free kick that led to disallowed goal. Third was the booking Demechelis got for Ade stamping on him!

Spurs lucky to get away with 1-5.

Edit: oops forgot about the 'fly goalie'

Wait a minute. No player holds on to the ball after catching it, ever, unless he's the keeper! I've never, ever seen that. Think about the penalty that was given against Micah two seasons back in the League Cup semi-final at Anfield. It still rankles with me. The Liverpool player — I forget who it was — blasts the ball directly at Micah's face from about four yards. Micah's face, unfortunately for him, happened to be between the goal and the ball. Micah puts his hand up in front of his face, naturally enough, and it's a fucking penalty! And Liverpool go on to win the tie.

Heard on the tube after match last night from a bemused Spurs fan: I am still utterly convinced we will win the league on goal difference.

He's an Arsenal fan, we've just knocked his team off top spot, not quite what I would call neutral..

As an Arsenal fan, I'm hardly likely to be an apologist for the Dark Side, am I?

Anyway, Spurs are crap and regardless of the decisions you would have won anyway.

And as for being top of the table, it was only ever going to be a matter of time, before you got to top spot.

City's squad is just too powerful. Nailed on to win the title , I'd say.

West Ham did well tonight, I wouldn't have forecast that. You beat Chelsea Monday night you open up a 6 point gap, which could be decisive. Chelsea are your main competitors. Arsenal have too many injuries and lack depth in their squad to cover for that. I doubt any last minute player deals to rectify that are likely. Not really Arsenal, is it, to spend big with Ozil the exception to prove the rule.

I'd say its likely all over bar the shouting by the end of February.

A good competitive season though up to then.
Gracious comments but a bit early to throw the towel in eh?

I honestly don't think there's a team that can live with you at the moment
There would need to be some major injuries for you to level things out

Pssst...... I think he is taking the piss through the medium or sarcasm mate.

Watching a re-run of the game this morning. Always get more from a second watch. First 25 mins was the best we've played away all season. Quite simply superb. Could and should have been 3 or 4 up by that stage - so many good chances created. Only when Spurs starting to kicking us did they start to stem the tide a little bit and Marriner seemed happy to let them do it. Set pieces from Eriksen were their only hope.

Edin Dzeko remains an enigma for me. Good in build up play yesterday, decent with his back to goal but the number of chances he missed was amazing. More though is that he never tested Lloris - most of his efforts were snatched and ended up high wide and horrible. Yet once again he's on the scoresheet. He doesn't lack confidence or go hiding which other strikers might do when chances are going begging.

Silva was great all game and Aguero unplayable almost till he went off and once again we looked more secure when Dimichelis moved into midfield. Pellegrini obviously trusts him there and with good reason but what does it say for his faith in Rodwell ? Both fullbacks were superb and Navas should get credit for the amount of work he does when we don't have the ball.

Offside goal was offside, clear penalty for us when Benteleb handled the ball about 4 times in a second and although I didn't think so at the time the penalty on Dzeko was correct and therefore a red. Not sure how Adebayor (numerous dodgy fouls) and Capoue (stamp on Silva) escaped yellows when we picked up 4 !
