Spurs vs City post match

I think the second half proves that we did not have the right approach from the start- the line up was not right and we could not get our game going. The horrible mistake from Kolarov cannot be ignored, which changed the whole feel of the game and gave the spurs players momentum and confidence. I put the blame on the manager for this game. Spurs are obviously a good side with a lot of height and energy and they can play as well. Wanyama was dominant. But if we kept to the same mantra from the start it would have been a different story- we looked clueless when we had the ball in the first half as the whole shape and approach was all confused as things were certainly adjusted for this game and the players could not implement the adjustment. I think next time we should go with what works.

Great performance from Spurs. The season is long so games like this was inevitable. Not our day but we move on.
 
That was one of the best Spuds performances I've seen in a while.

I thought Kolarov, Zabaleta, and Navas' performances cost us the game.

Sergio wasn't great either. Silva wasn't serviced well and therefore couldn't pick out cutting passes.

Oh I almost forgot. Fernando should only come on as a sub. He's so bad with build up play.

ah come on! yes they were cheating but they were up and all players do that shit anyway... today the better team won both on the press and their defense... we go back to the drawing board and wait for them at home...
 
good game of football , we cannot keep on giving gifts to opposing teams though , not sure how many fouls spurs committed but it appeared everytime we got something going we got clattered , and Danny Rose spent all the 2nd half trying to get sterling sent off , he spent more time on his backside than on his feet cheating ****. This was always gonna be a tough game , next 2 weeks will be about glory glory Tottenham Hotspur but it wont change anything , like the dippers they will bottle it. If Kun had his shooting boots on he would have scored a hat trick , we also gave them too much respect from the kick off with Fernando starting , we looked a far better team with Gundongan and Nacho on for Fernando and Navas but we are still top of the league and Spurs have got to come to our place. Plus the Rags f*cked up so not a total loss today
 
Top of the league. Toughest away game out of the way. Stones is quality. Those are the positives.
Negatives today come down to Spurs having more an energy, more composure, more of a game plan and finished their chances.
From our point of view nothing new. Our full backs are too old and slow to start that game. There's plenty of times I'd start them but not today. Fernando struggles when given responsibility and our go to guy Fernandinho had an awful first 45. With those two struggling there was a knock on effect with Silva not being able to get into the game which meant Sergio was starved of service (first half) and Sterling looking lost.
Too many players haven't got the required tank to contain a hard, high press and it results in mistakes, heads going down and overall complacency.
That said we had the better of the chances second half and could have scored three. It wasn't our day today and as much as I laud Pep, it was his initial selection that put us in this situation.

I thought Bravo once again came in for some uneccessary stick, could do nothing for the goals and made two great saves. He'll keep playing it out as long as defenders keep fucking passing it to him. It's time they took some responsibility instead of putting him under pressure every 5 minutes.
I'm sure there will be loads of soppy twats going way overboard so I'm calling it a night.
 
Kolarov back to his usual standard. Zabaletta is finished. What Sagna must have thought, God knows.

And how Silva didn't score from that Navas cross, I have no idea. For one of the best players to ever pull on a blue shirt, his composure in front of goal is dire.

Yet still we had two really good chances as well as two great saves from Lloris - not as bad as some seem to think it's only the usual offenders who cost us the game. Sane has to be played before Navas, Gundogan needs to start in all the bigger games as he helps Silva and Sergio, and finally Kolarov and Fernando need to be sent packing. Pep will see this and probably learnt more today than the other ten games put together.
 
I think most of us had a sneaking suspicion how this one would pan out the moment we saw the lineup. We had a handful of half decent periods of play and was unlucky with the few half-chances we created. Thought the ref was far too quick and eager to punish our players for the same type of fouls he was gladly letting Spurs get away with. I said in the match thread that it looked like Pep had taken a page from Peller's playbook for this one. No doubt he has learnt from it. Onto the next game.
 
Better team won. At times it felt like they had an extra 2 players on the pitch so you have to give Spurs a lot of credit. From our point of view it is worrying to see Kolarov drift back to his old ways. He won't last long in this team with more performances like that. I would like to see Sane get more game time but clearly Pep doesn't trust him enough yet. Stones was our best player today by a mile which says a lot about the other defenders today.
 
Not too arsed about the result, in the sense that losing away at a side who will obviously be there or thereabouts is no disaster.

The concern, though, is that we still look awful against teams that press us. Poor midweek, even poorer today - against the first teams really prepared to have a go at us. Zaba, Kolarov, Fernando, and to a lesser extent Otamendi - you can't play with people as limited as that against decent teams.

Second half we made a contest of it, but over the 90 minutes Spurs were miles better than us, in every single aspect of the game. And that's the worry, given that we were only missing De Bruyne of any note (plus Kompany, of course, bit that's now the norm, unfortunately).
 
Stones - can hold his head high.
Kolarov - back to his usual tripe.
Zabba - I hate to say it but he has lost more than a yard and is not fast enough for the Premier league.
Navas - showed why he will not be picked ahead of Nolito when his suspension is over.

Can't believe why Pep chose to pick the team he did with what looked like a Pellegrini team, that played like a Pelle team.

For all euphoria around Spurs winning, if Silva would have taken his chance after 3 mins the game might have been so different.
 
Once again when some of our first choice players aren't available the rest of the squad is too poor to replace them. Zaba, Kolarov, Fernando, Navas, Delph etc. these players simply are not good enough and when they play we drop several levels.

New full backs are a must, a reliable defensive partner for Stones is a must, a new midfielder is a must. Drop the players who are past it and replace them with players who can actually slot into the team without us going to shit.
 
we always saw this game as a game we could drop...

hard to lose but we were never going to walk the title.
 
I think we're seeing the advantage teams like spurs, liverpool and Arsenal have this season over us,Utd and Chelsea in that they have an established settle team all with a manager with at least a season behind him.

Still a lot of work to be done but if we're gonna win it this season it's gonna be a lot closer and harder than our unbeaten run would of suggested. Bring it on!

Oh and Deli Alli has a face only a house brick could love.
