Squad and who to sell in the summer

Why the hell are so many people selling Dzeko?

Negredo has been as dreadful as he has brilliant and Aguero and Jovetic have had injury riddled seasons.

Plus Pellegrini likes a big target man cf and often plays two up front.

it has been a tradition here to sell Dzeko. we have been selling him for at least two years now.

this is a phrase of bluemoon bible

tho shall not create a selling list without Dzeko on top.

not a big fan of him personally but cannot see the value gained in selling him. he might bring in 20$ but 20 cannot buy you anything in his caliber. never mind an upgrade.

He'd only be sold if he isn't offered or doesn't sign a new contract. He'll be in the last year of his contract next season then he can go on a free like Barry and Lescott this summer. We either cash in now while his stock is high or see if he'll sign a new deal. It also depends what the player himself wants. His next contract could be his last big one and he might want to move nearer home, either Italy or Germany would be his best move if he doesn't stay with us.
He's earnt the right to be offered a new deal but do we cash in now while his value is at maximum or keep him and lose others.

Personally if we can keep improving the squad I'd cash in this summer and try to bring in Muller as a replacement and someone like Berahino to replace Negredo. Save some cash and keep the goals flowing. If we signed Fabregas or Reus to rotate with Nasri and Silva then we'd score even more from midfield too.

The World Cup traditionally takes its toll on players did to lack of time away from the game and some of our players won't be able to play at such a high level next season as this one due to fatigue unless they can get a break every now and then next year.

i would try and move on these eight.

Richard Wright
Dedryck Boyata
Joleon Lescott
Micah Richards
Gareth Barry
Jack Rodwell
Scott Sinclair
John Guidetti

We'll get about 40-50 million total for that group.

Which would allow us to perhaps purchase Mangala and cover Sagna's wages.

40-50m no way.

Lescott and Barry are out of contract so they will leave for nothing.

Richard Wright will likely be released.

Sincair will inevitably go back on loan because nobody will buy him due to his lack of football, even if he did get sold it would be in the region of 2m

Guidetti will fetch around 4-5m

Rodwell is badly injury prone and therefore I see nobody buying him but offering a loan.

Richards' injury record and lack of football will make is value in the region of 5m

Boyata will be lucky to fetch 2m

I reckon there is about around 20-25m there.

I would say if Barry does not sign an extension (and then get loaned to NYCFC) then it would be 30 total. But if he does we could eventually receive a pm internal fee of about 5 million.

I also think Boyata and Rodwell would fetch more, with the right suitors. But that's why I put "about" (or approximately).

We don't need major surgery:

OUT: Lescott, Richards, Barry, Rodwell

IN: Sagna, Fenando, Mangala and Zucullini (presumably loaned straight out)

I think Dzeko has shown his value in recent weeks, he's happy and Pellegrini is getting the best out of him

If we were to buy another attacking player I would like us to add more pace, El Shaaraway might be worth a punt

I reckon

in - homegrown keeper
Sagna
Fernando
Mangala
Zuculini
Left sided forward player possibly Gaitan. Dream signing would be reus

Probably cost around 60 million

out - Lescott, Barry and Boyata - free transfers

Sinclair - cant see us getting anything more than a bag of doritos for him.

Guidetti - probably go back to Holland, sad we've never seen him get a chance though in the prem.

Richards - sad to see him leave but hes no where near the level he was two years ago.

Garcia - been an important player the past few months but I reckon Fernando will be an upgrade on him and Garcia will go back to Spain. Rodwell will stay for the home grown quota and has great potential if he stays fit.

Pantilimon - would like to see him stay as he is a solid keeper and seems a decent guy but I can see him wanting regular games and the club might want an English back up for the homegrown quota.

I could see Navas moving on personally. I just think with all this FFP nonsense we're going to be more frugal in regards to squad players that aren't homegrown, or young. And Navas, despite some great contributions, has largely been on the periphery this season, at least for me. That added dimension of pace just hasn't really come to fruition the way it was thought.

That and all the homesickness stuff, I could see him returning to Spain.

Navas has had a very good first season that is being underrated by City fans. He has more assists than Silva in all competitions or anyone else in the squad. His form did tail off a bit and I think that has made people forget how good he was for a while and how good he could be again now that he's more used to the English game. Navas should stay where he is, he's the only really direct attacking player we have.

offload/release/sell - 7 players
pantilimon - wants 1st team football
barry - contract expiring soon
lescott - contract expiring soon
micah - contract expiring in 1 year. always injured. pelle don't fancy him
rodwell - never fit. pelle don't fancy him
sinclair - no comment
guidetti - he needs to prove himself elsewhere

renew contract : dzeko, kolarov & milner

current non - homegrown (max. 17 players) : 16 players
defender - kompany, zabaleta, kolarov, sagna, demichelis, nastasic
midfielder - yaya, fernandinho, garcia, silva, nasri, navas
striker - aguero, negredo, dzeko, jovetic

current homegrown (8 players) : 5 players
- hart, clichy, milner, boyata, wright

* realistically, we can only sign 1 non-homegrown player during the summer, unless we offload any players from non-homegrown list. from the formation as below, we need 4 signings (CB1, CM1, Winger1, GK1) to be really competitive in ALL competition.

assuming we can get Fabregas as CM1 (listed as homegrown, from Arsenal), and then we buy Mangala as CB1 (non-homegrown), we can forget to sign Reus/Di Maria as a Winger1 (left). as for GK1, it's really important to sign another homegrown for Hart's back up (John Ruddy, David Stockdale, Joe Lewis).

*milner, boyata & wright is not in the formation
