As much as it would make me chuckle a little to see the Toon go down, I don't mind em so much - their fans are more daft than offensive.

Sums up my impression of them perfectly. Having witnessed first hand the scenes of grief when Keegan walked last time, I actually think there'd be mass suicides up here if they went down.

Hate them, and the whole myth about Noocastle being a sleeping giant - they make rip van winkle look like a cat napper, love to see them go down - They would be lucky to get 28,000 for home games. Love to see em go down.

Here in the North East there's a delicious and ever increasing sense of panic as the Geordies finally have a moment of clarity and realise they're in deep, deep shit. The local press have spent the last week screaming about the fact that many of their first team players have been relegated before (Duff, Butt - Birmingham, Bassong - Metz, Viduka, Smith - Leeds) and that with their run-in the situation could go Defcon 4 PDQ.
I've even stopped hearing the usual 'Shitty City' jibes at work.

Realistically, the relegation maelstrom currently involves anywhere up to ten clubs, but now's probably the time to start seriously factoring run-ins into the equations and making serious predictions.

I honestly think that it could be WBA, Boro and Newcastle to go down in May. A thought which cheers me no end.

Their home games against boro and Fulham are winnable, they will be MASSIVE games for them.

With both boro's and Fulham's away form being as it is they really should be home bankers, but you have to factor in what the crowd reaction will be if the barcodes concede or it's 0-0 with ten minutes to go.

I agree that it could well be WBA, Boro & Newcastle. In some ways I'd be sorry for Newcastle as it's a great away trip and the fans are generally superb and hospitable. They don't deserve what's happened to their club.

But the club management has only got itself to blame. They got rid of a good manager in Robson, made a number of poor appointments and it's been downhill ever since. I don't know what Ashley was thinking when he took them over but he's run the club idiotically.

Newcastle fans are some of the best in the PL imo, and probably my favourite away game (obviously night over helps that).

Personally, while i love taking the p*ss out of my Geordie mates, i really hope they stay up. Boro and baggies, however would be no great loss.

If there's one reason above all others why they should be relegated, this is it.

If you look at their remaining fixtures the next match vs Hull away is an absolute must win.

Hull - A
Arse - H
Chelsea - H
Stoke - A
Spuds - A
Liverpool - A
Boro - H
Fulham - H
Villa- A

I can't see them picking up any points at all after the Hull game until they play Boro at home and with their fans on their backs it's only going to make the players even more nervy.
It's certainly not beyond the realms of possibility they'll only pick up one or two points from that run in.

A win this weekend should give them confidence to go on and nick a few suprise points

Next weekend F.A. cup this weekend but i agree they desperatley(sp) need
aresult against Hull if they don't they are down imo

Theyll probably still find a way to get beat this weekend despite not having a game :-)
