CITY have made their boldest move yet in their pursuit of world superstar Kaka.
As reported in Monday’s MEN Sport, the Blues have made the 26-year-old Brazilian their number one Galactico target.
And executive chairman Garry Cook has now been authorised by owner Sheikh Mansour to offer the Italian giants AC Milan £100m for the player who could command wages of £250,000 per week that would dwarf anything else in the game.
The Abu Dhabi Prince sees the move as the perfect way of showing fans that he intends to keep his promise to turn the Blues into a superpower in the coming seasons.
Earlier this week Milan were still laughing off suggestions that they had received a bid for Kaka and the player himself was happily discussing playing alongside David Beckham for the next couple of months.
Kaka though has always been at the top of an exclusive and separate wanted ‘Galactico’ list that has also was approved by manager Mark Hughes and now it has emerged that the Blues made their move on Monday evening.
Last night, Milan owner and Italy’s Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, gave authorisation for details of that meeting to appear on the official website of his media group. If Kaka agrees to come to City, the Serie A side will use the cash windfall to rebuild an ageing side.
Milan then said they had taken ‘official notice’ of City’s offer.
“This time they are here for real with an official delegation," said the report.
“City want Kaka at all costs and they have shown their cards. Garry Cook, two representatives of Sheik Mansour and Kia Joorabchian, who is acting as a mediator, met with Adriano Galliani and Ernesto Bronzetti (Milan’s chief executive and commercial director) and made their offer.â€
The Blues have yet to speak to Kaka but his countryman and friend Robinho has told friends in Manchester that he had been told of City’s desire to have the two in the same side.
There has been no official comment from City.
