He's a Deacon rather than a Priest.

That's why the paper called him a minister.
Didn't say he was a priest.

Fair point but he is a deacon in the diocese of shrewsbury.

That says to me he is a Catholic.
I thought it odd myself. Didn't quiz my source nearly enough and made myself look a tit.

I knew the man as a Chemistry teacher and recently heard rumours about others.

My boy goes there and I must say the standard of education he is getting is excellent.

I had a little chat with him on the way this morning and explained how these fuckers work and the lies they tell ("no one will believe you" or "I'll hurt mum and dad"). Told him it would be unlikely he would come to any harm, but if anything was to happen he must speak up. Also reassured him that should any one harm so much as one strand of hair on his head, that I'd kill them.

To be fair, they spoke to them in school today about this to explain the people who did this are no longer there and that they are doing all they can to help the police etc.

It always has been a superb school and a great education.

St Ambrose is a very good school. St Bedes is another good Manchester catholic school that had a similar case last year.
I'm sure there will plenty more skeletons coming out of the cupboard in the near future from historic abuse in the 60's, 70's and 80's in all sort of areas of society.
The Saville case seems to have opened floodgates in the public consciousness.
