Did a contract at an insurance firm there for a while. Eating out one evening with some of the local team I commented on the number of older ladies who were made up and in their gladrags for a week day evening. They smirked and pointed out that I shouldn't be ageist and that the widower market was as legitimate a market for the worlds oldest profession as any other demographic. No idea if it was true but they were adamant that there was a thriving business community of mature ladies catering for the older gentleman.

(Awaits first Rooney joke).

There's at least two decent chippies in Lytham. One in St Anne's. I mean places where you can sit down and enjoy a decent haddock or whatever.

They are both rather quiet places and the comparison with Southport is fair, although Southport now is plagued with pestilential Scousers and is in danger of becoming an upmarket Rhyl.

A bit middle-class and elderly. Some good eateries, but if you expect Las Vegas you'll be disappointed. A nice walk along the front is possible in both places.
