Stadium Developments thread - San Siro to be demolished (p56)

So many of those are not going to happen.

That Leicester stand was proposed years ago, since then their owners seem to have lost a bit of interest in the club, and they have been relegated to the Championship twice.

That Millwall new stand looks great, but again it’s an old concept that I doubt will see the light of day.

The Chelsea fiasco is a mess, even if they did go to Earl’s Court, there is still a lack of room for them to build a new stadium. I don’t think you are getting a bigger stadium on the Stamford Bridge site because of the lack of access, unless you knock down some listed Georgian houses, or send a walkway through a graveyard there is no real options to extend on that site.

The Sheffield stand just looks like an AI image, I’d question any architect who’s behind it if it is real.

I’ve already discussed my thoughts on the new Man Utd stadium. Probably closer to a decade away from them being able to start any work, and the plans are unrealistic and quite frankly laughable. I mean look at that fucking design.

The Wasps thing doesn’t convince me either. They have moved and moved in the hunt to find a significant fanbase. They have ultimately went bust and are apparently coming back. Who’s to say they will find a fanbase where they plan on building a new stadium, heck the whole of club Rugby Union is facing an ongoing threat in this country.

Thats all very true, I just thought it might be of some interest.

Not sure if this is before or after improvements. 100k seats. Manchester will need more hotels or more trains to London.

With Everton announcing that the women’s team will be moving to Goodson park and it getting a refurb , do we think untied will reconsider demolishing old Trafford and maybe do the same a refurb and move the women’s team there ?

The ladies would probably win more there then the mens. Scum.

An internal target to reveal plans by the end of this month seems increasingly unlikely.

Sources indicate that no final decision has been made yet and PIF’s meticulous approach to investment means we may not hear anything until later this year – potentially not even before the new season kicks off.

When the decision is eventually made public, it’s expected to be thorough and detailed, far beyond the internal presentations that circulated within the club earlier this year. It’s understood that while options to redevelop St James’ Park have been seriously explored, the preferred option is now to move to a new stadium at nearby Leazes Park

A joint statement from Nottingham Forest and Rushcliffe Borough Council was released on Wednesday (June 18) which said: "Nottingham Forest has been in regular dialogue with Rushcliffe Borough Council, Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council regarding the redevelopment of the City Ground.

The parties can confirm they are working towards the Rushcliffe Borough Council Planning Committee date of Thursday 26 June to consider the application.

"There will be no further comment other than as required by the relevant legal process." The club recently appointed renowned architect Konstantinos Chatzimanolis as a principal executive to move forward its City Ground plans.

Nottinghamshire Live understand members of Rushcliffe's planning committee will be visiting the City Ground this Thursday (June 19) to hear more about Forest's plans. The June 26 meeting will then see the committee voting on whether or not to back the plans.

Key to Forest's vision for the City Ground is the demolition of the Peter Taylor Stand and a replacement which would increase its capacity from 5,000 to 10,000 seats. Next to the Peter Taylor Stand would be a residential apartment block with 169 units.

Seen a few things online now mocking this, and I know it’s just a tunnel but it’s like what folk have said - they’ve ran out of cash and finished the job with a trip to Home Bargains!

Wolves chairman Jeff Shi has revealed there are no plans to rebuild Molineux but admits the Steve Bull stand is 'too old' and must be improved.

The club originally set out plans to transform Molineux with the aim of creating a 50,000 seater stadium on the current site of the current 32,000 capacity ground.

But those ambitions were shelved after the pandemic and put on hold as the club recovered from a financially difficult period.

Now, Shi insists Molineux does not need a complete overhaul, but has promised to make 'tweaks' to improve it.

"Molineux is not a bad stadium," Shi said via the Business of Sport podcast.

"I have been to many stadiums in the UK and it's a good stadium.

"On capacity we have 32,000 and I think it's good enough, maybe 35,000 or 40,000 is the max for the city, but it's not urgent.

"The urgent changes are that I think we should have more hospitality areas to serve the clients who want a better environment to have a conference or to eat there. We should do more on this.

"We have a very old stand, the Steve Bull stand, it's too old. The next plan is to try and change a bit there and build more areas for hospitality, similar to what Fulham did with their new stand.

"That's what we are trying to do but I don't think the capacity should be much higher than it is now.

"Financially, we are carefully thinking about it. The goal is not to rebuild the stand or the stadium, but to tweak it and optimise it."
