its pretty shit that there wont be one end full of city fans ( south stand)

I dont think it will make a difference to the atmosphere, it will be like now, just with two more seated tiers.

Yeah, this is my fear if it's going to stay the same too. As long as the singers are separated by up to 3,000 away fans, they will never be on the same page.

agree, its just such a good chance to get all the singers together and give ourselves a singing end aswell. Some of our fans are more obsessed with the away fans than supporting the team

I'd be very surprised if the singers are still separated after expansion. If they are putting away fans over 3 tiers then I would expect the away section to be 2 blocks wide in the corner instead of the current 3 blocks. That should leave enough space for the East stand singers to move into the south stand.

is the first stage of the build for the rugby world cup in 2015 then after that the other end will be built for the 2016 season

we will defo need a 60.000 plus stadium and also we could offer the stadium to uefa for a champions league final
We cant sell out against Bayern why do we need 60K

Well we sell out every league game and when you sell out every home league game you extend because even if we sellout half of them it will contribute to FFP when extending it doesn't

spot on mate, never understood why some people are so hung up over a "full stadium" everyweek ! It must be better to have a big stadium to fill, then a small stadium turning people away !
We don't turn people away

yes we do
Also a bigger stadium will mean more avantages, like bigger crowds for pop concerts and bidding for things like the Champions League finals Rugby World Cups.

If we do how is it that the attendance is always different even when the away support is full.

Because tickets sold to people turning up is a different thing. Segregation differs, away allocations differ. There are a number of reasons. Just because the rags give a bit of stick about the "Emptyhad" people have such a chip on their shoulder about it. The rags are struggling to sell seats, prices are rising, attendances are falling. We have always had a great support and increasing the capacity and with it increasing hospitality seats will secure higher revenue to allow for an increase in lower priced seating. That will bring back a huge number of supporters currently priced out. We sell out nearly every home game meaning people cannot go. That therefore means we have to expand. The swamp is not full for as many games as people are led to believe, Real and Barca rarely sell their full grounds. But if we follow the german model akin to Dortmund and Bayern then we should be able to have a full ground and it will be incredible.

should have a section in the new third tier of the south stand is completely for singers/flags/scarfs etc

tell people:

* People will stand
* People will wave flags
* People will sing
* You can't stand there in silence with your arms folded

Re: Stadium Expansion excitement!

Juventus moved into a new stadium very recently.

Last season they won the League by 9 points.

They achieved an average attendance of about 38,000 which is more or less on a par with Aston Villa.

But the fact is they still only achieved 93.8% of the capacity through that title winning season in the league.

Of course we all know that the Italians dont like footy, Juve have no history and they are shit.

But of course that applies to almost all of Serie A and is reflected in their average attendance figures

Re: Stadium Expansion excitement!

Any ideas to increase the profile of City are welcome by me.

Someone posted that selling 60000 at £300 is not much worse than 45000 at £450. I not done the maths but if it is great but if not 60000 spend more so money generated somewhere along the line.

Re: Stadium Expansion excitement!

Not sure whether this is in any way connected but just received a mysterious e-mail from the club entitled "Opportunities like this only happen once in a blue moon" and some spiel about 10am 16.10.

If I remember correctly, in one of those surveys for potential Season Ticket sales we filled in earlier this year, there was a question along the lines of if you are prepared to pay up front for 2-3 years to secure your Season-card at a heavily discounted price or even get your 1st year free in the new extended part of the stadium!

I can't remember the exact wording, however it would be interesting to know if anybody can remember the exact offer and if those who have received this email actually registered an interest in that option!

Then again I could be miles off, but my guess is as good as the next man's guess I suppose!

i hope we dont extend it just yet, it would be embarrassing, we cant fill it at times now!!
Every League game bar 1 sold out over 2 and a half seasons.
Very difficult to grow our support when its the same fans going all the time, and that means that for midweek games, those same fans are skint

If we fill it, good, if we don't, then we just look stupid. We can't moan about glory supporters though as we'll need to attract at least 12,000 new fans.

No im not a rag in disguise, just being realistic, would be great to go to one of the biggest stadiums in Europe every week to watch city.

32,000 empty seats, are we fucking sure?
where are you getting that number from ,we are at capacity now ,47 ooo ,season tickets were sold out in record time, what people choose to do for a midweek fixture,is a different issue, the club would not take this route if the demand was not there,

Whether we sell out all the time or not is unimportant! Let's get out of this pissing match syndrome that views any non capacity match as a failure, as it is simply not the case!

Even if our 60,000 seats only produce a season's average crowd of 54,000 who really gives a fuck!

Certainly any of the extra fans that saw the games won't be moaning nor suicidal!

My issue is still what it was early in this post and that nobody else seems interested in discussing; just how can we get 10-14 year olds attending games independently and at a price they can afford? If we fail to answer this then in years to come the stadium will be empty for sure!
spot on mate, never understood why some people are so hung up over a "full stadium" everyweek ! It must be better to have a big stadium to fill, then a small stadium turning people away !
We don't turn people away
The last home game versus Everton was sold out weeks before Kick off so you are wrong

Amazing that Milan, Inter, Roma, Napoli, Atletico, Barcelona, and Real Madrid's empty seats at pretty much every game get no criticism.

City - a club that went 30+ years without a trophy - average bigger attendances than every single Italian club, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, PSG, Marseille, Porto, Benfica, Galatasaray... and yet we're supposed to feel ashamed of something, even though nearly every 'empty seat' in the Etihad for league games is PAID FOR?

(And yes, all the empty seats at the Etihad do bug me as people who really want to go could be in them, but doesn't change the fact the majority of them are sold - hence, to keep this on-topic, it should not and apparently is not holding back expansion)
well said ,but that view point,is difficult to get through,to the hard of understanding

Re: Stadium Expansion excitement!

Hope this is true. I was in two minds whether to re new this year. Purely financial, the DD split over 4 months sold it for me (I still wince at the months it is taken)

I for one will apply for the 299 ones even if they are in the gods. The beauty of it as I have said before, will be a lot of lost fans may come back. It will also generate a new set of supporters. If city do this cleverly they will also target students. In 20 years time when they are lawyers doctors business owners they then go corporate but the cycle still continues

Assuming of course that there are enough of these Value tickets

This Summer these Value seasoncards sold out in a day

Re: Stadium Expansion excitement!

Yes I am assuming substantial £299 tickets (inflation to be added) hence targeting students etc

Re: Stadium Expansion excitement!

Brilliant this..build it and they will come, and if they don´t we could give every fcuker a fiver to attend games just to build the fanbase for the future.
But seriously, how can anyone complain about this? About making cheaper seats available?
Well, perhaps someone will have to move seats but is it such a disaster really?

The more seats we got the better for keeping the price reasonable as well, the old supply and demand
