Stadium Expansion

Would be great if true.I think football in this country have uncovered the tip of an iceberg in terms of getting fans into stadiums. We still have thousands of fans of all teams that would go to a game at the last minute if they could.Transport isues, getting your hands on a ticket, security[home and away fans]have all played a part in keeping fans away. But we now have the technology. We do not require all tickets to come from the stadium. We could sell tickets at many outlets like the lottery machines.A coach layed on with the price.I don;t think we will have a prob filling a 75k stadium.

Danny Wilson told us this at our supporters Club meeting in May. The use of the tram will be free with your match ticket
THIS IS THE GERMAN WAY free public transport included in your match ticket and drop the price to £15 fill any size every week and the revenue could come from sales of beer and spending in the club shop etc

extra 12000 either end and down another 4 rows all the way round for the rest
How could they possibly put an extra 12,000 on each end? Just think about it. The ends don't even hold 12,000 at the moment, so you're suggesting they more than double the current stand capacity by adding another tier? That simply isn't possible.

You might be able to get an extra 6k at the very most at each end and that would be a HUGE job in terms of time, effort and money. And digging down (even just 4 rows) would take even more time, effort, and money. I don't envisage either of these things ever happening; it just isn't worth it.

And if the owners really have set 400m aside, they may as well build their very own brand new super-stadium from scratch.

When this stadium was first built it was said at the time that is designed with the possibility of extending to 60k. And as you say 6k at both ends gives you that without even digging down, etc.

The intriuging thing is the land we have supposedly bid for or bought across the road at the Clayton analine site. It's as big if not slightly bigger than the existing Sportcity site and maybe if they don't get the desired deal for COMS then they might as well spend £400m on a brand new stadium.

Pity they couldn't build one on the old Maine Road site but I'm just a sentimental old softie.

If there's a Tramline to the ground it will be dug up every 5 minutes and buses and cars will not be able to get to the ground along that route

That's going off what's happened to the Trams in the City Centre. Not reliable enough

Yes they were impressed by the way Schalke do things

So you think that the Metrolink will be free if you have a match ticket?? Not a chance in this world.

That is the proposal which City are wanting to instigate. Twelve months and 10 days ago if I'd told you that we would sign Robinho you'd have said the same!

The work being done at the moment is to upgrade tracks to allow more, newer trams along with prep work for the new lines. Once it's built they won't need to start digging it up again for many years.

I dont want to be a stick in the mud ...BUT ..why expand the stadium when the club couldnt sell out most of last season when tickets were on sale for a fiver?

Free tram ride with match ticket - brilliant plan with city. With the improvements in the tram line, dont see the problem with it.

How many games were on sale for a fiver last year?

One, and that was a sell-out.

So you think season tickets will be reduced?? Not a chance in the world.
So you think they will let us into a UEFA Q/F for a fiver?? Not a chance in the world.
So you think they will put on a free concert for people who were going to buy a shirt anyway?? Not a chance in the world.
So you think they'll beam back a pre-season friendly from Africa and not charge to watch it?? Not a chance in the world.
So you think they'll put friendlies on MCFCTV and not charge for a subscription?? Not a chance in the world.
So you think they'll stick the ticket office indoors so we don't get pissed wet through like we have for the last 20 years?? Not a chance in the world.

Season tickets werent reduced for everyone
A one off to ensure a full house
Not free if you have to buy something to get it really is it
Very good gesture putting the games on the website granted
Thats just common sense putting it indoors

The metro will not be included in any ticket believe me.

Those are all things that the club own and can directly control. The Metro is an entirely different matter. There's a very slim chance that it might become free for supporters, but it will never be free for the club as they will have to heavily subsidise it to make it happen. Can't see it happening myself.

I've had a quick scan and can't seem to find the bit that says we couldn't sell out most of last season despite tickets only costing a fiver.

So, as I suspected, you're just chatting shit.

Yeah, you've explained the reasons for doing it but they were still done.

Season ticketes WERE reduced, okay maybe not for all but there was a reduction. Many other cubs do that?
Yes, a one-off but it was still done
Yes you had to buy a shirt but if you are going to buy a shirt anyway then it is free.
Just common sense but who else did it for us and who else in the league has it? Very few - if any.

I am sure if you say to a Schalke fan that we are thinking of this he would also say 'common sense really'.

I am not saying that you are wrong about the free metro - just saying don't dismiss it out of hand because you cannot judge our owners by the standards of other owners in the league and other owners we have had previously. Metrolink won't lose out as they will get the money off the club and if the club are willing to fork out, then why not.

I work for a company that has sites in a number of different locations in the UK. In some of those cities it has negotiated free travel on the buses for its staff. If they can do it on a daily basis then I don't believe it is beyond the realms of possibility for ADUG to do it once a fortnight as it will cost them a drop in the ocean and will bring returns as previously discussed.

well there is plenty of historical evidence

<a class="postlink" href="http://mcfcsupporterstrust.blogspot.com/2007/05/falling-attendances-post-season-update.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://mcfcsupporterstrust.blogspot.com ... pdate.html</a>

unless you are claiming that ther is suffienct demand to increase the stadium to 60-70k ?

when last season the COMS averaged an occupany rate of less than 84% ..or on avarage ..7.5k empty seats

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.purelymancity.com/index.php/12/20/a-closer-look-at-our-attendance-figures/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.purelymancity.com/index.php/ ... e-figures/</a>

See my previous post re the company I work for.

If a quarter of the people coming on the tram buy 2 or 3 pints coz they aren't driving plus a pie to go with it, then it goes to paying for itself. If Schalke can subsidise the local tranport for fans, why can't we?

Is there any historical evidence for your completely made-up statement that we rarely sold out last season despite tickets only costing a fiver?

According to your leader, we're just a small club with a small mentality. So why are you so obsessed?
