Stadium Turnstile Upgrades

Yes it isn't but it will be eventually, something the club should consult on before implementing.

Bangkok airport has it right, you have the choice of facial recogniton upon arrival or standard entry, if you choose the FR it speeds up entry and exit, bit it is a choice something any organisation should.do if they bring it in, make it optional, you sign up you get fast tracked for entry, food nd bars and for souvineer shop checkout, you don't want it you go in the slow queue and have to be patient.

Your identity is yours to to own not a businesses.

As for cameras already at turnstiles, they fall under the cctv rules, an actual camera scanner is different
Who says it will?

I presume being season ticket holders we already consent to images being taken, as according to the club's Ground Regulations, CCTV cameras are in operation throughout the stadium, including body-worn video cameras used by staff. These systems are employed to monitor prohibited behaviors and may be used by the club or shared with law enforcement or football authorities for proceedings.
The club's Privacy Policy further outlines that CCTV images are collected for purposes such as public order and crime prevention. Additionally, photographic and video recordings may be used for commercial and other purposes, including promotional and marketing activities.
And under GDPR are only permitted for crime prevention and public safety, not as a record of a person have to be erased after a certain time, are prohibited to take the more than required, and can be deleted upon a request from the person. Plus recording are only reviewed if a public order offence happens they are not for general viewing.

The club cannot take a profile picture and store it with your account details or use it in such way without consent.

If I am entering the ground I am not causing a criminal offence so my picture need not be taken or recorded.

The club has no powers to wand you or search you like happens at away games. You have to give consent, bit if you don't give consent you don't get in.

It is your choice.

exactly.

We will see what the future seasons hold, and if one year they suddenly say from next season you won't have a season card, upload your picture and just scan your face to go in I will probably be done.

FR bing used is probably a few seasons away but the best time to raise concerns is at the start not after the horse has bolted.

Would this tech have identified the scrote1 who threw a bottle of coins off SS3 onto an innocent member of the public when we had the pleasure of welcoming Liverpool FC to the Etihad in the Carabao a couple of years ago?

That can be the only justification for it. Imagine being misidentified though. Banned for life and hauled up before the beak because of iffy tech rolled out in a panic.

1 and by using the term ‘scrote’ I mean no disrespect to actual scrotums, who do a difficult job in often very cramped conditions

The data is stored on the access card so it is just comparing the data so it's gdpr compatible as the reader does not hold or store the information

Except it didn't "go quite well" and it took about 6 months before it started to settle down.
Fine for everyone I know and the complaints and apprehensions before the first game dissipated quickly but I guess as you may have had a greater insight as a CM rep at the time

Funny how I’ve managed to get in with a Swiss Army knife in my pocket before (by accident). The guy asked me to undo my fleece and take my cap off but his magic plastic wand didn’t catch that!

The whole security thing is pure theatre.

Be carful you’ll get a prison sentence these days if you are found carrying a bladed article.

A Swiss Army Knife usually has a non locking blade that is less than 3" long.
That is perfectly legal to carry anywhere in the UK.
It's only when the blade locks open ( or is a fixed blade) , and it is over 3" long that it becomes illegal.
Also, if you have a valid reason to carry it( work, religion, recreational purposes i.e. fishing or camping, certain types of costume) it is also legal to carry it just about anywhere.

You could walk past a food stand and wink at a server and end up with a bill for a burger fries and a bottle of Belgian wife beater :)

Sadly yes. Even my local bloody Waitrose has a camera on their self checkout tills.
I can never understand why people think things like facial recognition are a bad thing? Unless your a known terrorist or wanted by Interpol, facial recognition wont effect you one bit!

100%. If your face doesn't come up when the ticket gets scanned you're not getting in.
Was talking about this to a mate of mine who is a rag and got the same sort of email from the other lot in Trafford.

Thoughts of their fans is it’s simple - facial recognition against your ticket means you can never again pass it on to someone you know without the clubs consent - so no sharing tickets, giving it to a mate or relative at the last minute.

Club gets your 30 quid ticket back without fail and sells on for 10 times the price.

And that is all the justification they need for the cost of putting in the new tech. Not safety, not customer first, just pure profit.

Swales Out!!!

Could it possibly be because we like our privacy? I am sick of seeing cameras everywhere spying on us. I like my privacy. I don’t want to have my photo/image splashed up anywhere and everywhere thank you very much.

Ha ha no but I don't like the intrusion on my privacy which gets tighter and tighter every year.
They also identify and prove the guilt terrorists, murders, rapists etc.

Out of interest what are you doing at the Waitrose checkout that is private and you don't want filming?
