The Abrams influence is obvious.....very Star Trek in style......which is ok by me!

A different direction is not bad.. too often directors try to replicate the previous success and fop, badly.

That light sabre looks stupid though, why do they keep introducing a new one for each episode? With all the technology in star wars with x wings, snow speeders, a death star, they can not seem to develop one good fucking light sabre!

I thought the point of the new sabre was practicality. In pretty much every film theres someone who has a hand chopped off by a light sabre so makes sense to have one with a cross guard like a claymore to stop that happening.

The more I think about it, the more I think that it's a badly designed lightsaber. There's a big thing about this but basically lightsabers get their blade from crystals that are kept on a Jedi world and the process of constructing one is part of the training for a young apprentice.

There is nobody for the Sith to have as a Master and guide them in constructing one. They're all dead.

It makes sense to me that this new Sith that the Force has awoken within knows that Sith/Jedi carry lightsabers and have tried to craft something like one using whispers and history books, and that is their effort.

I'm really glad they got Abrams to do it, and kept Lucas away from it.
And got Lawrence Kasdan to help write it. That, for me, is the most important factor in this film - it decreases the chance of it being as awful as the prequels.

I've heard rumours the villain is going to be Darth Revan who is thought to have been dead 5000 years so that would fit the whole "force awakens" thing and explain the ancient light sabre theory thats knocking around as well.

No offence, but it's a stupid point.

It's like saying "Why are there katana, wakizashi, ninjato, cutlass, rapier and broadswords around(to name a few!) and not just one good one??

Cos they represent different fighting styles and eras.

Re: Star Wars Trailer

I've heard a rumour that lukes hand gets found clutching a light sabre by someone on another moon. A search is then on to find Luke. I for one nearly piss with excitement when a new star wars film is promised and I'm 45. That music makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

Hopefully it will prove a great move having Kasdan involved again.
