My little theory based on the trailer (probably not true but I'll hide it just in case some don't want to think about it and feel spoiled - even tho I have as little clue as anyone)

Spoiler

What we see/know:
-Rey (the girl) is a scavenger
-Hooded figure standing over Vader's mask on a pedestal
-Alien dude passing Luke's old lightsaber to what looks like a girl
-Rey (and Finn) being chased by TIE Fighters

Theory:
-Rey comes into possession of Luke's old saber
-The hooded figure with Vader's mask is the Sith dude - (Suppose it could be Luke but I'm not sure Luke would take Vader's head home after the funeral - I actually hope it's Luke just so my theory is likely wrong, not because it couldn't work but because not having a clue is better)
-The Empire/Sith are chasing Rey in order to get Luke's saber for some nefarious reason (probably to create some kind of crazy Force weapon using a bunch of Force significant objects, including Vader's mask)


As an aside, some are presuming that Rey is a Skywalker or a Solo due to the lack of a surname but, being familiar with how JJ operates, I reckon that's a red herring. Finn might be a Calrissian but I reckon she's just some girl and any Skywalker or Solo Jedi kids haven't been shown yet.

Seriously though.

That fight in the destroyed Star Destroyer showing the smallness of the Falcon compared to it might be my new favourite thing ever. They actually make the original trilogy better because they reinforce the massiveness of the Empire and the tinyness of the Falcon, so how much of an achievement it was for the Rebels to defeat the Empire.

Cinematography wise, in terms of show don't tell, this thing will be an absolute fucking goldmine. Tiny scene that extrapolated on previous narrative without a single line of dialogue. Christmas is too far away. I'm so fucking excited here.

Honestly think that this one shot is better than the entire Episode 1 movie. It's so clever that I'm certain that Lucas wasn't involved.

First time I watched the trailer and the screen was panning across I thought 'Ok, a big hill ...what are those shadowed ridges? walls? Oh, it's a base on a hill.... hang on it's a fucking Star Destroyer! fap fap faaaap!'

Still, the best shot for me was the huge red banner and the army of Stormies. That's when I thought 'Ok this is epic'
