Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi

Just watched it. Meh.

This sums it up.

It’s pretty dross.

I feel like Star Wars has been ruined for me.

They should have just done Rogue One and fucked Force Awakens and Last Jedi off.

Luke is so disappointing in the whole film.

You sort of want to like it but unless you’re part of the Star Wars fanatics who’ve read all the comics, books and watched all of the other spin off stuff then this is just boring pointless dross. I couldn’t even be arsed writing a proper critique as all of the many shit points have already been done. The new films just feel like all new films - throwaway pastimes, nothing classic or timeless about them.

Agreed.

I really liked Rogue One. But that’s because they’ve pandered to someone like me who loves the original trilogy.

The rest of it is garbage. Force awakens was shit and this was even shitter somehow.

I’m not even convinced that much happened. After waiting years for Luke Skywalker to hit the big screen again, he didn’t do anything.

He watched the hologram to obi wan from R2 again. I thought it was Oliver Reed until that point.

I rewatched Force Awakens last night as I got it in 3D, I still like it, the pacing, length etc are spot on, it feels like a Star Wars film and the bit when we first see the Millenium Falcon still gets me as does Han's death. Yes I know it’s a rehash of ANH but I think after the dross of the prequels it’s what everyone wanted, TLJ is just not upto it at all.

Saw it last night. Im 48 and went to see the original at the cinema in 77. All these follow on films just go to show how difficult it is to follow perfection. I actually enjoyed the film bar the princess leia superman scene. I don't look too deep into these films and just enjoy them at face value. That way I'm never disappointed.

Just watched it. Yep, meh. Very average and quite boring in parts.

I don’t really like the characters bar Rey who I think is the only highlight.

Finn, Poe, Luke, Kylo, all a bit pap.

Disappointed.

I enjoyed it but couldn't quite figure out why. Then went back through this thread (which I'd avoided since release) and agreed completely with @Damocles posts. I think it was necessary to reset the scene of Star Wars for oncoming films to be allowed to flourish. I enjoyed TFA but it being a complete rehash of ANH showed that there's only so many ways to frame an absolute good vs. absolute evil story. Now we have a bad guy with some pull towards the light and the good guys have been shown to not be completely flawless.

That's not to say every bit of character and plot development was perfect, but it was still an enjoyable film.

I love SW me and I saw TLJ the day it came out and thought it was fantastic (bar the casino part & maybe one joke too many - which im sure a fan edit could sort out!)

I was surprised with the amount of hysteria that came out- mainly in my opinion because of people in my age group (40's) crying and bitching over what they seem to think is THEIR ownership of the franchise.
Just go with it ffs - isn't that what you're supposed to do at the movies?

Anyway, I watched it home again tonight and I can honestly say I enjoyed it even more. I think that it'll be one of these films that comes out, isn't met with great enthusiasm but grows in people's estimation in time.

I think Disney have done an amazing job with TFA, R1 and TLJ so I urge people to give it a second shot.

BTW, Han Solo trailer is supposed to be out this weekend whoop whoop!

Running out of fuel was a master stroke.

The destruction of scarif and Vader cutting through rebels like butter was better than this entire film.

Tried this film 3 times now and have still not finished it, nor do i care to really.

Watched it last night and thought it was brilliant. If i was being picky i would have rather have seen seen the Ben/Luke story fleshed out a bit more than the Del Torro stuff. I'm guessing that is the start of some running sub plot in the upcoming movies.

Going to watch it again for sure but i'll now wait for a decent edition :)

I tried again last night to watch it but I can't. It's just absolutely awful and has nothing remotely enjoyable (aside from the Snoke scene which even then is hugely flawed).

I desperately hope they take the next trilogy off Johnson as he's created a truly terrible film.

I’ve always been so enthusiastic about every Star Wars film released at home but I don’t even think I’d watch it all the way through I’d just go to some scenes for demo reasons then put away like the prequels

I like the idea of starting episode 9 with an arm's deal. 3 years have passed since TLJ. Del Toro's character has become an arm's dealer. He is in the middle of a deal with the FO which gets interrupted by the rebel's. A big action scene ensues. The rebel's take the weapons and ships for themselves and Finn kicks DJ's ass
