Started up Golf

my 1st set were 2nd hand and cost me £150 with bag and trolley

i used these for 5 years, then upgraded to callaways once i knew i liked the game

i've been playing for 15yrs now and still learning, so for your £800 you better get good quick or you will have pissed it in the wind

give me a shout if you sell up ;p

Since you've already bought them, and aren't asking advice on how to allocate your golfing budget, I'll just say you bought some really nice clubs that will last you a long time. That's about what a full set of everything costs if you buy high quality, new equipment.

-- Thu Jul 25, 2013 6:59 pm --

Did they fit you? Have you hit on a monitor? How did you choose those clubs?

Oh my your in for a treat robbo... love playing golf... not that im any good at it but I do take myself around the course on my handicap... as poh said good advice is to take some lessons and get it right from the beginning... I have never participated in a sport that can be so frustrating and yet rewarding as golf... been playing for 10 years now and I just cant get enough of it... its intriguing!

And you have bought yourself some really good clubs... I started up with 2nd hand clubs and used those for a couple of years before I bought a new set!

You can get a set for around 400 quid at those American Golf plac

A set of Callaway arnt that cheep, especially 11 piece

I'd have gone for cheaper clubs and then upgraded as and when mate. It's what I did. Have a full set of Callaways now, each bought when deals were on or I needed to replace a club.

Been playing for a few years now and love it,I have played some of the most beautiful courses in the uk,anyway, you have started of with a great set of clubs and if it does not work out for you they will hold their second hand value very well,if you do take to it one piece of advice I would strongly urge you to take is to get a few lessons with a pro' you won't regret it,apart from that good luck.

Yeah great news you have reassured me, thank you. This is the only way I would know that I will give it time to learn the game. If I invest in it I will defiantly be playing :)

lol you crack me up shady :D

-- Thu Jul 25, 2013 7:05 pm --

Great advise all, I think I have bought the right clubs, its just a shame the controller is pants lol

Great game, when I re started I was lucky someone gave me a full set for nowt. Used the back garden to re teach myself how to hit the bloody ball using air balls, Missus went daft given number of divots missing out of lawn and I had to continually get them out of the gutters because I had hit them on the roof of the house. Best club I bought was a chipper which is putter with an angled face improved my short game no end.

Hit the bloody ball straight each time 150 yards and you will be on most greens in three, take two puts which means you will get round for about 90, just enjoy it and try to get your head round the fact that you won't be Tiger Woods overnight and there is no one to blame but yourself if that ball doesn't go where you want it to. Just wish I had more time to play. Counts weeks down to retirement (I miss fishing as well) :-)
