Stephen Ireland

I'd be interested to see some stats on how much ground Ireland covers on the pitch these days. When his move to sunderland was touted my mate told me that Ireland was one of the top players on the stats for ground covered per game and people forget how hard he works. Just wondering if he still covers the same sort of ground these days?

Not sure about ground covered but check out his passing stats v Spurs... for 81 minutes of the game he made 5 passes, 3 successful in his own half and 2 unsuccessful in the opposing half.

When he was in his peak for us, he made a point that his aim every game was to increase the amount of ground he covered from his previous game. I believe statistically when he was in form he was covering quite a large amount of ground.

Wore me Stephen Ireland is Superman shirt yesterday! Just one of those footy things where yer left scratching yer 'ead as to how he can plummet the depths. Remember that goal he scored against Reading? Shit players can't score those? Remember how well he played with Robinho? Perhaps he ought to go to Milan. Still regard it as a tragedy that he never used that good season as a springboard for legendary status.

Absolutely this.

That's not quite right if you hover over the events... all of them are after 82mins...

Click on Petrov instead. 15/16 passes in 82 minutes... still fuck all though.

I'd have him back any day. IMO he will still be a phenomenal player. I feel sorry for him. He was kicked out, joined a lame duck team that don't really have a plan for him - he's demotivated imo.

Still not happy that Mancini kicked him out.

it's almost physically impossible to play central midfield for 80 minutes and only pass it five times.

You would have to go out of your way to do this.
