You said ‘all tourist areas are rife with pickpockets’. It matters not one jot where you are in the world’

No arguments pickpockets operate around the globe, but it does matter where you are as the incidence and likelihood of being a victim varies dependent on your location.

Put it this way I would be more cautious on Las Ramblas rather than at Salisbury or Winchester Cathedral.
Toxteth?
Bootle?
Huyton?

You think there are tourist areas around the world where pickpockets don’t operate?
Bless.
Of course some are worse than others but that’s not the point I made.

There are plenty. I live in a tourist town, never heard of anyone getting pickpocketed here in over 20 years.
It seems to be a European thing, I’ve lived in HK and Thailand and it was never an issue. We go to Japan every year and there are certainly no pickpockets there. We go home via Singapore every couple of years, no dramas there either, yet my sister lives in the south of France and walks around carrying her handbag across her chest with both arms wrapped around it and thinks that’s normal.

Tbf the punishment for anything like that in that part of the world is harsh enough to keep it to the minimum.
I’ve spent enough time in Thailand to know it goes on but yes, definitely worse in European destinations.

Berlin for me. Fourth trip tomorrow and I’ve never had an issue.

I’ve been to Seville for Sevilla Away plus Malaga twice. That’s it for Spain. I don’t see the mass appeal as it can get too hot there.

I have a little draw string bag that I carry stuff in. Maybe stick my wallet and phone in there.
If you like Seville and Málaga you should try San Sebastian. Amazing food - probably the culinary capital of the world, amazing food that can cost 3 euro for a little pinxtos to 1000 euro for a Michelin star meal. Not the cheapest but for 150 euro you can eat and drink like a king on the sideria and pinxtos. The cider factories are an amazing experience.
If Wales ever play there don't miss it.
I can recommend Zabaleta bar!

Barcelona is one big tourist trap for me.

True in SE Asia, yet pickpockets don’t seem to be a problem in England or Australia, not really sure why.

Back on topic, I’m surprised no one has mentioned his martial arts personal trainer and his mysterious medical episode. I seem to recall the BM rumour mill going into overdrive about possible “assistance”

If you have not been robbed on La Rambla you might as well not bother saying you have been to Barca. It would be like going to Rome and not visiting the Colosseum or Berlin and Checkpoint Charlie. It is a must do.

Great trip that one. Fantastic sitting in the beach bars beforehand.
Totally agree with this, it's not even discreet on La Ramblas, I was pick pocketed - 2 dead AAA batteries from the camera I had out earlier in the day from my back pocket while tightly holding onto my phone and wallet with my hands in each side pocket

Actually I remember, albeit after a few Estrellas, that he was excellent on the night. Ireland was capable of brilliance. I thought he was one of the best youngsters I had ever seen at City when I watched him in the youth team. I honestly thought he and Michael Johnson would both be greats for City. They both had their moments, and Ireland did play at international level. But, as someone has already said, what singles out the true greats in all sports is not just their skill but their mental strength. Less skilful players than Ireland and Johnson have won Premier Leagues but it's what it's in your head that really matters at the highest level.

Vladimir Weiss star man for me. Ireland was decent though.

It is a mystery why there is not a greater police presence or action as it does sully the reputation of a great City.

I can't think of a single player I grew up watching in the 90s or 00s before our first title winning season who would get close to this squad, even the ones who looked like they might do something.

Some would have you believe Richard Dunne could be a part of this team.

Believe he suffered a nasty injury playing for Wythenshawe Vets yesterday. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

I am back to san sebastian and bilbao in September, aim is put on stone in a week.
More Michelin in Bilboa per kilometre than anywhere.
Spain is wonderful if you avoid British tourist trapa.

When you consider kids who never quite had the career you expected Wladimir Weiss would be top of that list. Incredibly talented player.
He signed on loan for Rangers and I saw his debut at Easter Road. He scored and looked like he was going to be a real star.
