Stephen Yaxley-Lennon

I see when he was stopped at the border he had more than £13,000 and €1,900 (£1,650) on him. This was revealed in the court case starting today. No wonder he didn't want to reveal the pin number for his phone. The fact that he was driving a silver Bentley SUV shows what a true man of the people he is.
A Bentley not registered in his name. And bags of cash.

Lock him up.

Having read of his arrest at the border, EVERYONE should be up in arms about it…and I’m absolutely NOT a fan of this asshole!

What was illegal? Carrying that much money? Driving a Bentley SUV that, while not registered in his name, was not considered dodgy or stolen?

If so, then I guess he’s committing a crime and should be punished.

But, this whole “I knew who he was and he wouldn’t give me his PIN, so I’m arresting him under the terrorism laws” is an absolute outrage that EVERYONE should be against!

If you won’t stand up for the least amongst us, you’ll be next, because laws like this are absolutely antithetical to ANY NOTION OF FREEDOM you think you might have!

He’s a loser dickhead, but this stitch up is a disgrace and everyone should feel that way.

I think you are missing the point here - there is a critical issue here which could be his ruination. Journalists have gone to prison for refusing to reveal their sources. Lennon claims to be a "citizen journalist". If the court disagrees it means legally he isn't a journalist and returns to the ranks of gobshite with an iPhone subject to the subsequent rules that apply in that instance and so his grift is threatened. Everything he is making a song and dance about is not what he is fearful of - its losing his "journalist" status and what that could mean for him.

It may well be that he was targeted because of who he is but I would have thought it's the sort of profiling that would routinely happen at the border.

Single male, last minute trip, driving an expensive car that isn't his would all justify further questioning.

Not declaring the cash is an offence, and would certainly justify further investigation including looking for intelligence such as phone records.

Only surprise in this day and age that you still need someone's pin to read/download contacts and messages.

You’ve got to declare over 10,000. If you fail to declare, there are several possible penalties and the money might well be seized.

You're absolutely correct but you're wasting your time on the clowns on here.
They're like turkeys voting for Christmas.
It doesn't matter how much of a prick Robinson is,if they can't see the misuse of terrorism laws has implications for all of us then they're beyond help.

No he is not and I’d suggest there’s no reason you should be calling fellow Blues ‘clowns’ when, in fact, it could be you.

Many years ago when I lived out in Germany, I was permitted to buy 2 tax free cars every 6 months, which when I sold back in the UK, had to be retuned, registered, and then could be legally sold to the UK dealers. I’d done this on numerous occasions, using Calais late at night and returning back with the new car the next day. Then, one time, I was coming back on business and was going to fly but a friend asked, as he was moving back, if I’d bring one of his cars back as his wife couldn’t do the trip. I agreed but when I reached customs in Calais, I was pulled over to the side and held for checks.

Cut a long story short, due to the amount of trips with different cars, the latest not being mine, they believed I was either a drug runner or a money launderer, and detained me for questioning, stating that I could be held for a number of reasons, including funding terrorism.

Luckily, about 5 hrs of questioning in a sixties type police office, they cleared me after finally getting in touch with a sleepy UK Customs Officer in Germany. Missed the boat and fucked up my business in the UK the next day.

Following that incident, I ensured I informed our Customs guy and wasn’t stopped again. In fact, I seemed to be ushered through the priority lane every time since.

The moral of the story, don’t believe you can do whatever you want, when you want. Somebody will always come looking.

I think you're being slightly naive if you believe there's much similarity between your situation and what happened with Robinson.
The police knew exactly who he was and reading through the comments attributed to the officers it's comical.
One comment was he wouldn't make eye contact so that aroused our suspicion, another belter was he was buying his travel ticket on the day and not in advance which was highly unusual.
It reminds me of a sketch from Alastair Smith and Jones in the eighties where a racist cop regularly arrested the same black man for nonsense like walking on the cracks on the pavement and wearing a loud shirt in a built up area.
I'll say again forget whether you like or dislike Robinson, whether he's a bigot, racist or maybe just a wrong un,if we allow the police to misuse the powers we give them for whatever reason we all suffer in the long run.

if he had collected it in cash from his event the day before then two things occur to me

1/ He claimed 3m attended so the donations indicate his followers are tight cunts ( the 3m was a lie obvs )
2/ Get a load of cash and next day drive it out of UK. Shouldn't HMRC be informed and decide whether its taxable before you spirit it away

Well the first crime he committed was trying to take more than £10,000 out of the U.K. without declaring it.

That is a criminal offence.

Anyway, the more this **** is exposed, inconvenienced, charged with any crime the better for me.

Now your just being rude to a single Blue, rather than the collective.

1. I’m far from naive and gave a true account of a similar situation, confirming that all are subject to the laws of this land.

2. Because I had previous of returning to the UK, I got pulled over and detained, having to have my story confirmed. I was let go because I hadn’t breached UK law. Robinson had in the minds of those who are given jurisdiction to uphold our laws, and now he will be given the grace of proving his innocence in court of law.

3. If found innocent, he is let go, like I was, and carries on life as normal. It’s then down to him how he conducts himself in the future. He can choose to play wild loose with the laws of this country, or he could stick to them and not have any further problems with it.

I think, in this case, that the naivety is that you can continually play wild and loose with the law and not expect to come under scrutiny.

Put yourself in spotlight, expect for that light to be shone on you.
