Julia Ebner (an academic who infiltrates far-right and Islamist groups) wrote about this a few years ago in her book The Rage: The Vicious Circle of Islamist and Far-Right Extremism. Here's an extract from it. I've recently been using it to reply to far-right twats on X, suggesting that they 'get a room' with the Islamists in order to properly consummate their co-dependent relationship.

He's already been prison, had people wanting to kill him so begged for solitary. Islam is used to control people and offer protection in prison it's very effective it's basically a gang in all but name.
