Sterling’s contract - three year extension confirmed

Were they trying to upset Liverpool then when he was stalling on his contract there? Or, like with this, simply reporting what they believe to be news??

But there is a difference, of course you may not see it. Sterling did a very public interview before his move to City, which I thought was wrong. But and I am sure you will agree, there are hundreds of unsubstantiated transfer rumours to fill Newspaper space. Until one can read quotes from people, or there is an enquiry or bid, it is merely guesswork.

Of course Some people and talksport will believe it as gospel.

We should block out all the guff in the media, it's all part of the negotiation game. Both sides will play it and we shouldn't read too much into any of it.

Hopefully there'll be an agreement in the next six months. I'm pretty confident that's both sides preferred option.

It was very wrong you’re right there. I’ll hazard a guess as he approached the end of his contract there, the papers did the same column filling bullshit they do with all clubs/players. Was that done to upset Liverpool though, which is what was being suggested here? Or is that tactic solely for us?

I think you are obsessing the agenda argument. I was referring to how Certain newspapers can write crap and people regurgitate it as truth. I can guarantee at some point today, a friend or acquaintance will tell me Sterling is "off" to Madrid.

Not obsessing. Just wondering why the instinct is to believe the papers’ aim is to upset us. It is what it is, which you’ve already alluded to - filling in column inches.

Not seen the paper or the journo. Heard a bit on talksport.
There are a couple of journalists who only write negative stuff about City, Custis being an example.

I rarely see Winter or Samuels having to resort to this type of journalism

Pretty sure Raheem will extend his contract with us, it's just the usual giddy media bullshit to take their little minds off the trainwreck at the swamp. Sterling is happy here, settled, playing well and working for Pep. No reason to leave, these negotiations just take time and more importantly happen when City are ready, not someone's greedy agent.

If this was a lesser player at a less significant club, I dare say there would be much, if anything, said at all. It’s Raheem Sterling though, an English player who moved clubs to win trophies but who has form for all things contract negotiations with his previous club. I dare say there is a more high profile footballer of his nationality in the league. Of course it’s going to be reported on. I will say reckon the entire press pack are dying for him to do with us what he did with Liverpool. Not because it’s a negative on City, but because it’s one collossul story - especially if he ends up at a club like RM.

It’s just another clickbait opportunity to play to the demented plastic Scouse gallery, and the only reason it would be a colossal story is because the media has spent the last 4 years demonising the lad on their (the armchair dipper hordes) behalf. Part of that narrative would also unquestionably have anti-City roots, because by feeding the trolls to such a shameless extent, they have turned Sterling into a figure of hate amongst all supporters, who would relish the idea of “oil City” getting a taste of their own medicine as a consequence, even though our only crime was to buy a player from the holy cow merchants

Media are just trying to upset us in any way they can, with the reports on Sterling and Real , and Sergio and shisha pipe, and Neville’s “Wolves have shown how to beat City” even though they didn’t, and technically they lost.
It’s just any bit of shit they think will create a problem, they are just desperate w4nkers!!!!
CTID
this is the impression i get, anything to put city in a bad light and hope it has an effect on them as a club, no matter how little,
