Sterling’s contract - three year extension confirmed

I would never have guessed you have coaching badges. Out of interest , how would you begin to coach and improve his " dribbling style"

No I do not have coaching badges, not sure where I said I did.

I would imagine it would not be required to change his dribbling style just to get it out of his feet at the point of execution a bit like coaching a player not to trap the ball dead, and slow things down, but take the ball with him when attacking the fullback.

Another thing I don't quite get with Sterling.

He shows a lot of cojones in the way he deals with his employers.
He had the courage to resist the pressure and march out of Anfield and pursue a more lucrative career with City and above all have the chance to win silverware, develop his professional career etc.
Now he's got the cojones, some might say nerve, to take it a stage further and, playing for the club which is favourites to win every competition they are participating in, demand that he be paid what he wants or refuse to sign the contract.
A really tough financial guy who won't be intimidated by anyone...okay.

How is it then that he freezes when faced with a hostile crowd so much that he becomes a liability to the team?

Don't get that at all .

Joking aside, his goals have seriously been brilliant technique to rank alongside pretty much anyone though tbf.

But to me, his close control at pace & in tight spaces, when surrounded by defenders, was the most difficult skill displayed by anyone on the pitch last weekend.

If he continues at this level, (which is of course an 'IF') then when games open up more, he will be above Sane's level from last season & will indeed be the kind of player Real Madrid want to sign. His performances so far are exactly the same as the ones which won Salah p.o.t.y.

And that would mean City should actually pay him as much as our top players.

Yes, I agree. I think some people become confused when it comes to technical ability. The most important thing for power is the non kicking foot, it must be level or slightly in front of the ball, this ensures that the body weight is in the correct position ( I know you already know this) Sterling has in the past had his non kicking foot away from and behind the ball, resulting in a lack of power or misdirection.

Sterling has so many other attributes that they far outweigh this weakness. His workrate, strength, speed, positional play, decision making, passing are all above average and make him an elite player.

I believe most of the world's top coaches would relish the opportunity to work with him as he has shown an ability to learn and improve each year.

So yes like you I hope he signs before January at a mutually advantageous contract.

One for the purists to answer that mate,I shall watch with interest to see what responses you get,but a very good question that.

I'll go as far to say even the stat book won't have that answer, but he will take a bloody good look in it until he gets something close to warrant a response.....maybe

It's easier to go through your agent and negotiate a new contract than have 50,000 Scousers screeching obscenities at you.

That's not my problem that you are older than me though is it ?

I go and so entitled to my views as well, but they get undermined as soon as someone doesn't agree,so I'll stand my ground
my age is irrelevant, as is yours. you said you were more entitled to comment due to your long longstanding in following city , live at that. well that's simply not true as otherwise my view of Sterling overrides yours.

Hi Bill how are you doing, will pop up and see you some time at the stadium - don't think you were at the last match.

He gets kicked from pillar to post everytime he plays at Anfield, perhaps it's the ref that gets intimidated by the hostile atmosphere and as a result lets the Liverpool players away with the treatment they dish out. Maybe if he was awarded the stonewall penalties he should've been awarded when playing for City at Anfield this perception of him freezing wouldn't exist.

But for some bizarre reason, you have decided to react to me,although the initial point was not posted at you,you decided to answer something back not directly aimed at you.

I was saying that I pay my money and get my say, simple as really, but now you are making me out to start a whole new argument !

What is it on here ? All got to sing from the same hymn sheet ?

Let's see the reaction if he doesn't sign and moves on,Jesus it'll be suicide watch on here
