But doesn't it seem a tad strange that as soon as Pellegrini mentioned
we're after a striker in his press conference, suddenly we're linked to
all and sundry. How many of these links have any substance to them.
I'm not sure any do.

By all accounts Cavani wasn't interested in coming to City and paying the price PSG have is beyond crazy.

He is a fantastic player but I think the club realised that he wasn't interested in signing so why both pursuing him.

We have no one like Jovetic, for all of the technical ability of Nasri and Silva they don't provide a cutting edge playing behind a striker or on the wing. Jovetic will give us this.

Nasri and Silva generate a lot of assists. I wouldn't bother with Jovetic myself. He's not an out and out goal scorer. What we lacked last season, was not chances, but someone to finish them

Exactly Marvin, which is where Ibra would be the only choice, but
I don't think that one is going anywhere.

People also have to remember he's effectively a year behind in his development due to injury. Much more to come from him.
The key with Jovetic is to make him more accustomed to a rigid role. He's very much a free spirit player who plays in the hole or on a flank. With coaching from he could make a very, very tidy left sided player. Cute touches, neat passing, awareness and an engine in him. The only coaching is crossing and skinning players. He has more to his game than has.

Clearly he is the alternative to Isco rather than our striking option.

I love the fact that he has the ability to find his team-mates with deft little flicks, has pace, appears to be a bit like Tevez and works tirelessly, but the main thing for me,is his ability to beat a man with skill and his ability to actually control the ball with ease.Don`t want to make this thread a slanging match but all of the above attributes are very seldom seen with Dzeko.

both are different type of players and have a different role in the team. As Nip said more of an Isco alternative than a pure striker alternative.

I agree mate....I think Jovetic gives us someone that could play behind the striker, as a striker or out wide...Jovetic is more direct and quicker than Nasir or Silva so would give us more firepower from that wide position. As he can fill a number of positions I think he'd be worth every penny....

Kind regards

Jovetic is not an alternative to Cavani, he is an alternative to Isco. Different style but very similar role in the team. More versatile than Isco though.

Cavani whinging should be done in one of the striker threads.

So you didn't want Isco then ?

Still not signed mate...I get the feeling the longer this goes on, the less chance he signs with city. I think we have a price in mind and will not move from that and would walk away from a deal rather than going over our valuation of a player..I hope I'm wrong tho as I think this would be an excellent signing of a guy that fills a need and is still young enough that he will only get better.....we should find out in the next few days I guess....City taking there time with both Jovetic and Negredo and this is worrying....

Kind regards
