Tevez 2008 > Jovetic 2013

Jovetic 2013 onwards > Tevez 2012 onwards

Or do you think we will miss the 15 league goals he scored in the last 2 campaigns?

Well Jovetic's goal ratio doesn't look like any improvement.
27 > 15

35 goals in 116 games

ps. how many goals did Aguero score last season?

27 in 63 these last 2 years shows a track record of improvement.

Great record for most strikers, even better considering he isn't even one.

Edit: wow is it 27 in 56?

I think people are getting confused about Jovetic, he is a goalscoring attacking midfielder, he can play as a second striker but he can play anywhere in the '3' in a 4-2-3-1 system.

I think people are missing the point in that we will most likely be setting up using 1 striker with wide players and attacking midfielders chipping in with goals too, anyone that has watched Pellegrini's teams play before will know this as that's how he likes to play

So who would Jovetic replace as a starting player in that system?

not "replace," but he would slot in the left.

we're going to play 60(+) games this season, all of our creative players (Silva, Nasri, Aguero, Navas, Jovetic*, Negredo,* Dzeko**) will be playing 45-50+ games.

*if they come
**if he stays

He can and has played anywhere from striker, left forward, left wing, attacking centre mid...

I don't understand the question your asking tbh mate? Starting player in our system?

He's versatile, doesn't necessarily replace any of our current players

My point is, even though its about the squad, we should be signing players who at this level are going to improve us (to take us closer to reclaiming the league and doing better in the CL). Signing a player who will be more 'squad' like than coming in and really pushing to be a first choice is not progression

He will give us a better option out left than we currently have thus strengthening the team.

-- Wed Jul 10, 2013 12:36 pm --

Well Pellegrini just said that we have 2 strikers and are looking for ONE more. So Jovetic or Negredo? Which one?

Jovetic's primary position is not striker, though he can play there.

So, to answer your question, both.

So to replace Nasri then?

he may not be classifying jovetic as a "striker"

That looks class tbh plus with Negredo we will have so many different options.

He could mean that we are looking for 1 more striker i.e. Negredo but he might not consider Jovetic a striker more an AM so he could still be coming too.
