My dad is a catholic and goes to church every week.
I am technically a Protestant by christening.
The fact that we are of different religions impacts me about as much as him liking mushrooms and I don’t.

You're not, though, but therein lies the rub. You are of the same religion, simply different groupings/denominations of the same. People have so much more in common, as you acknowledge, but too many people would prefer to underscore differences.

Just been reading an article in one of our papers about this. Religion is number three in hate crimes. Catholics are 20% of the population but account for being the victim of this in 50% of the cases. Protestants 27%.
It’s the most dangerous place to live in the UK if you were born a Catholic.
We are a great country but we have a cancer of hate that manifests in violence far too often.
I too have been attacked whilst with mates and brothers, we never appeared on stats but could easily have as we were outnumbered, but it ended ok for us. Not everyone can defend themselves and even those who can, being jumped by a greater number seldom ends well for them. This happens a lot.
I think I will move to Syria.
It is all very sad to be honest.
Might be way out of whack on this (so by all means please correct me) but in the handful of very enjoyable times I have spent up in Scotland I have never thought of it as an overly religious country (which is in stark contrast to the regular events at games and stuff like Rangers only first signing a Catholic player in the 90's and the like).
Are people really that hung up over religion or is it just a 'stance' passed down to each generation who blindly accept it as gospel (pardon the pun)?

When will Scottish football actually deal with this shite, from both rangers and celtic.

I do find irony in him saying chelsea saved him from this shite, chelsea that is closely aligned with the rangers and is unionist and racist :-)
Meanwhile there is never any anti protestant songs or chants in Scottish football..........

The anti prodistants and xenophobic shite from celtic is just as bad.
Both clubs have sets of bigotted ****s stuck in the past.
Actually edit, after reading back I was calling Chelsea racist, which they are.

It does so apologies and totally agree, both are as bad as each other although i will say this as i live and work in south west Scotland with fans of both sides and the rivalry i see every day between them is one of banter and most of them football aside are really good mates.
Chants at a football game no matter how distasteful they are shouldn't be seen as an example of what life is like up here on a daily basis for the majority and its been said, where was Clarke the week before when a player was being called a big fat orange bastard or words to that effect because when he was asked about it he said he only wanted to talk about football yet a week later, after a 5-0 thumping he suddenly changes his mind?
