Steve Coppell

How can you take a job in a different part of the country without mentioning it to the wife first???!!!!!

There was more to it than that ffs.

Gutless little rag twat.

Of course he discussed it with his wife. She didn't want him to take it, but he accepted it anyway, presumably thinking she'd come round eventually. She didn't, at least not during the time he remained in the job, but he used that as the excuse to get out because he hadn't realised what a mess the club was in. All very simple, all perfectly believable.

Coppell had a complicated family life, they lived in London and he got back there at every opportunity ,on one occasion after a Saturday game at the final whistle he got straight in a cab to Piccadilly station to get the 5.30 pm train to Euston .
He obviously could not carry on like that and he got completely stressed out .
None of the other rumours are true .

'Orrible twat and was a bit shocked but also pleased when he walked!
FHL obviously was a great man manager.....just look at what happened with PR and his monkeys' heid.

If PR = Peter Reid I'm sure Swales sacked him before Lee took over.
I thought Lee sacked him and replaced him with Brian Horton, a nice enough man who was given absolutely fuck all help by City and, ultimately, was letf with zero chance of avoiding his, and the clubs, inevitable fate.

Deffo Lee who booted Monkey's Heid.
Andy Hincliffe was there at the initial blow-up! Sounded like a proper old ding- dong, two stubborn bastards fighting over territory...ah to be a wasp on the wall.

Brian Horton was shafted from minute one, the poor bastard!

Reid was sacked at the end of August 1993, and replaced by Brian Horton.

Lee took over as chairman in February 1994. In May 1995, Lee sacked Horton and appointed Alan Ball.

Definitely not. Reid was sacked early in the 93/94 season and Lee didn't take over until early 1994. I remember we played Blackburn at MR and lost badly and there was a big anti-Swales demo after the game. Swales did his usual trick of sacking the manager.

Well there you go, shouldn't believe everything you get told!
Cheers for the clarification chaps!
