My wife started a new job ten years ago
Me being a softie sent an email to his show in the afternoon on radio 2 wishing her look he duly read it out and dedicated absolute beginners to her . Lovely touch .

Ah right. It's just that it happened to the colleague of an acquaintance of mine. Retirement party on the Friday and then dead on the Sunday. Heart attack, completely unexpected.

RIP Steve Wright, loved “Steve Wright in the afternoon” on radio 1 in the early early 80’s.

Used to do all DIY jobs when he came on, start at 2pm and surprised how much I managed to get done in 3 hours.

Absolutely hated his Serious jockin' (No G) feature, but the rest of his show was OK, but his show was definitely stuck in a time warp,

I liked his Sunday shows though.

Apparently, he just lived for his radio work.

Was definitely his low point serious jockin no g, I used to switch off at that point.

Im really saddened by this news.
No DJ has made me laugh like he used to, especially in his early days.
He played a lot of decent music as well. I was sad when he left Radio 2, despite his show being stale and repetitive.
I hope they’re playing witchita linesman as his curtains close and his coffin disappears
