stockport county

Some did, for some City was and is their other club. It is quite a feat of petty spite to imagine that the 3500 souls who turned up to support their club, at the start of what they hope will be a climb back to league status, are all City haters and rags.
I would imagine (and hope) that those that turned up today to see a new low in their clubs history would be the true Stockport fan, who were never interested in taking the piss out of any other club, in which case I'll tip my hat to them as true fans, as I know how they feel to a degree.

However it won't change how 7 or 8000 others acted 13-15 years ago, no doubt they have long since f**ked off to hunt glory elsewhere (sadly some will no doubt now be at the etihad).

It may not be rational to you GH, but I can't forgive them, as I too went to Edgeley Park on a Friday night back in the day.

Taking pleasure in mocking the less fortunate is a deeply unwholesome trait, I would even go so far as to say that those who delight in County's misfortune deserve the same fate.

Whilst I agree with you that schadenfreude is less than edifying, my sympathies towards County's current travails are somewhat limited.
I too used to venture to Edgeley for Friday night fixtures, until one game when their fans spent most of the second half singing about how much they hated City.
What goes around...

Playing at Alty on the weekend. How the not so mighty have fallen.

We don't have a game on Sat....might just go down and cheer Alty on.

Be great if 3k City turn up to slag County off like they did when we were shit.

The best one is Bank Holiday Monday, which I'm going to... in the away end.

Stockport County vs. Colwyn Bay.

"Blackpool 1 - Donkeys 0" eh?

Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

If I employed someone who, when my career was heading in one direction and theirs in another, turned on me, then I would have no hesitation whatsoever in biding my time and returning their unkindness with interest when the worm turned once again.

Anyone read that interview recently with County's chairman? Think it was in the MEN, about being a Greater Manchester football club in the shadow of two big PL clubs. Oldham and Bury came across quite well, even appreciative of City and United. County's man decided to use his interview time to slate off City completely, claiming almost that city fans are the sole reason why county are struggling. It was a real shame for me to read that and see that kind of opinions still alive and well at county/ I used to go a few times a season but not for years, and after reading that I can't say I would change my mind any time soon. There is a deep-running bitterness towards City in particular at that club, being as though we were once on a par for a brief amount of time, and now we are moneybags with top class everything and they are mis-managed over and over again.

He thoroughly seemed to believe that probably 50% of city fans should in fact be going to Edgeley park every home game and not Eastlands, despite the fact that he thinks we are all a bunch of cnuts. Didn't say a bad word about the red half though. Made your bed and all that...

Shame as I know a couple of county fans who still go and they are, well... downtrodden but hardy is how I would put it. Though they both freely admit their home ticket prices are embarrassing, and they both dislike the new chairman quite a bit. I wouldn't be as arrogant as to say they should know their place and be happy with it, everyone is entitled to celebrate their teams biggest days, but the ferocity of it, the siding with the rags to unite against a common sky blue enemy, well... I remember it all and so for county no tears, no cash and no pity from me.

They're charging £15 for matches in the Conference North, the same as Bury in League 2.
