Stockport v Salford is there a difference?

I can't understand why Utd bang on about Citeh from Stockport etc etc, but have no issue with the fact that loads of their fans are from Salford.
The two towns are very similar in my opinion, both shitholes, both garbage town centres, both shit nightlife, both full of six fingered empty heads who wear clothes a bit out of date and both full of wannabe Mancs!
Is there a difference?

Slag stockport of as much as you like,take stockport out of city and our crowds would be half of what it is.please tell us where your from considering your calling it a Shit hole !!

Born Salford 1956, growing up as a kid around Langworthy Rd and Seedley most of the kids were Blues and they still are to this day, still see some of them at the match although like me they left Salford over 40 years ago
All this crap about Salford being 100pc red is well...crap, when i went to Salford Grammar/Tech i would say it was 60/40 split in favour of rags, been told there are still a lot of Blues in the area, handy lads as well

I was born in 69 in Stockport (Infirmary) & when I was at school it was, as far as I could tell 50/50 blues/rags so could never understand the cry, all City fans come from Stockport, I'd imagine that the ratio has worsened over the last generation in favour of the rags & hopefully being put right in a sorter time frame now. I guess it is/was just banter.

I'm from Weaste. There is a load of Rags, but there's plenty of blues in Salford too, you might want to watch where you're slagging off, gets on my tits when people have a pop about where I'm from.

Reddish Vale School late 80s was 70/30 rag. I reckon Stockport as a whole is similar to this right now. Don't know about Salford. Doesn't really matter though.

not being funny ;) but apart from didsbury and maybe one or two other areas most of Manchester is a shithole. With shithole areas like longsight, most of the area around citys ground and the rest. ie wythenshawe ( where im from), gorton, moss side,north manchester

the funny thing is, is that there is probably more united fans in stockport than city fans. I have a mate who keeps going on about all city fans are from stockport, yet he lives pretty much on the a6 in stockport town centre hahaha

Quite right too! I'm a Salford-born blue myself - my grandad and mum were both Salford blues too, from Lower Broughton. Who really cares where any supporters come from nowadays (even the rags)? People move around a lot more than they did 50 or 60 years ago, this whole "City fans are from Manchester" thing is a bit stale tbh.

Season ticket holder raised in sale although it has always been rag central as long as I have known.

The Racecourse Estate was always Blue when I lived in Sale (admittedly I moved to Whalley Range in 1989)
And if the bloke from Reddish thinks 50% of the crowd comes from Stockport, then 2 pints of whatever he is on please.
