Stoke away post match thread

Hughes has just admitted he deployed the same tactics as Klopp did and Brenda before him. They packed the midfield, hit the ball toward the pedestrian Kolarov, used speed and trickery to get past and BOOM, its in.

Just watched Manuel blame todays defeat on our injuries. He has a point as they don't help but having said that every team has injuries to contend with. Player for player we were superior to Stoke on paper, but in reality we needed to be at least equal or better than the sum of our parts, that is where a manager earns his corn. Can this be said of Manuel today?

When you start with that as an excuse you know you are on your way out.

I doubt we would have but in more effort and played as an organised team in attack or defending with our best eleven today.

MP doesn't know how to motivate this team often enough when we don't turn up and the players don't have enough hunger to motivate themselves.

Defensively we are always an accident waiting to happen and any side can easily take advantage of us.

a frightening glimse into the future with komps and sergio becoming more fragile and ya ya coming to his swansong, looks like the players are bored with the manager,no fucking excuse sitting on his arse the whole game and im /was a pellers fan, bony dear me ,and how bad is fernando when we dont look any worse going down to ten men without him ,for me at fault for both goals,
very angry with the lot of them, completly outclassed by stoke it could of been 5

Injuries be damned because toure has been as big a liability as anyone this season so far, add to that silva being back.

Ok no VK or Sergio, but lets be fair having signed otamendi(who i do actually rate)and bony(who i certainly dont), and with the mobile delph also back from injury, against stoke...you really should not have to rely on them to avoid an almost 5-0 dry bum scenario. Weird starting lineups seem like classic pellegrini at this point.
Not disguising your gloating very well.....fuck right off.

Exactly. It's HIS fault we're using the same players week in week out. Iheanacho sat on a bench, FFS.

i dont think he has any idea what he's doing, his selections dont make much sense and his reluctance to play people like nacho is just shit. i worry for our young players under him they have no hope. take denayer how he wasn't given a chance.

Was this "the Wigan game" for Pellegrini? Seriously hope so...

Stoke looked like Barcelona the first half, with gale force winds blowing into their faces... I'm totally shocked

we're at the point that it's not individuals, the team doesn't believe in the way the manager wants them to play, or evidently how we're doing anything in training to translate to the match, we've tried umpteen combinations and line-ups and it isn't working at all.

Say what you want about certain individuals, but ultimately it's broken and it's December. To get the players back on side we need a new boss. Stinks of Soriano's admitted mistake over keeping Rijkaard too long, he's done the same here to not hinder the chances of Pep. Just offer Carlo a huge sum for 6 months, and tell him we'll double it if he wins the league and CL.
