Stoke away post match thread

So that was tough to watch.

When you lose, you tend to focus on the negatives (BM's good at that) but when you reflect, you end up saying to yourself “if only that shot had gone in” or “if only that marginal offside had gone our way” or you notice we had more shots or possession despite the loss.

But today at Stoke was different. There were very few positives and it felt extremely flat: when Silva fails to play well and very few players step up to be counted, you can only expect one outcome. It was sad to see a number of players exposed so alarmingly.

The worst thing about today for me was the self-righteous caterwauling of a number of fans, almost the expectation to lose and the fulfliment and smugness of being right. This is worrying when it's coupled with losing and sadly the fear factor of the team looks to have temporarily disappeared.

Sort it out lads! Terrible day!

14 points from our last 10 games.

2 points from our last 4 away games

3 thrashings.

Playing as individuals with no cohesion and a lack of bottle.

A few individual performances have got us through most games we have won.

Gone backwards despite the transfers over the summer.

Sacking MP is only part of what needs to be done now.

Injuries be damned because toure has been as big a liability as anyone this season so far, add to that silva being back.

Ok no VK or Sergio, but lets be fair having signed otamendi(who i do actually rate)and bony(who i certainly dont), and with the mobile delph also back from injury, against stoke...you really should not have to rely on them to avoid an almost 5-0 dry bum scenario. Weird starting lineups seem like classic pellegrini at this point.

At some point it stops being weird and starts becoming the norm.
We've passed that point quite some time ago.

reminds me of my place of work.

no leadership and despite the incompetence of the management there are still some good performances by staff but because of the overarching chaos eminating from the top allows to many members of staff to cruise along.

MP must go.

Just to calm everyone down we have an easy match against Gladbach at home next to regain confidence..

They're currently 3-0 up against Bayern.

Strange absence of pellegrini defenders in this thread

I'm a Pellegrini fan, it looks like he's losing the battle. But to put the blame all on his shoulders is idiotic.

He picked a side that a good percentage of our fans would have. It would have been nice to see Iheanacho over Bony and personally I'd have gone with Delph over Fernando, but those are changes that should make such a difference.

I was at WBA away, despite a terrific performance, ALL the fans were saying can't wait for Sterling, Silva and De Bruyne to play. From WBA away we've swapped Ya Ya for Fernando and Kompany & Mangala for Argentina's back two. Pellegrini isn't fucking around with formations, he's playing the 4231 that the majority of fans have been screaming for for 18 months.

I'm happy for Pellegrini to be replaced, certainly happy to be bettered, and yes I like him, but I've always said I'd be happier with Pep even though I think Pep's weaknesses are similar to Pellegrini.

We now as a club, as a fan base are stuck with Manuel, we are desperate for Pep, I believe it's undermining the manager and giving the players excuses.

There are slight changes that could have been made today, I'd have gone with Delph and possibly Iheanacho, should that really make that much of a difference? Not for me.

We played in a hurricane, Stoke played on a windy day. The difference for me, the players attitudes. You could blame Pellegrini for that, but City have taken away his foundations, it's hard to be strong when the players know you're off.

Must be one of our worst games of recent times (sorry unusually long post commencing).

I'm normally of the opinion that I don't know half as much as the manager. That's still true but today I can't ignore two things.
If we had to make changes at 50 mins then that means the team was wrong, or at least they were playing wrong. I just don't know why Delph didn't start or come on sooner.
Second thing is still about the subs. Fernando has been doing very well this season but was very bad today. I can't help but wonder if he wasn't fully fit like last season. I really expected him to come off for Delph. Instead it was Fernandinho who got my vote for player of the month and always works hard. In fairness he wasn't very good either today but in hindsight it was certainly the wrong decision since Fernando disappeared off injured leaving us with 10 men.
But not even sure Fernando was the worst. Don't think anyone can have their head held high except perhaps Hart who made good saves. I don't believe all our players are bad and our manager is bad and we need to sell and sack everyone, but they were all quite awful today. Then again if KDB had made it 1-1 might've been so different.
Just heard Pellegrini's interview. It's true we have too many players injured. Maybe the players were tired today, but that would be quite worrying. When asked when our important players will be coming back he simply said "no idea" which is not good to hear. Probably he's just as angry as the rest of us but usually is more composed.
The worst I can remember us playing was when Mancini was said to have lost the dressing room. I'm not yet convinced that is what's happening, I certainly hope not.

We have sacrificing two seasons waiting for the God Pepe. We got away with it the first season as Liverpool imploded, the players were relived Mancini wasn't booting their arses and two world class goals beat Sunderland in the league cup final where we were shit for most of the game.

Last season we were dogshit and we had a manager stubbornly refusing to alter anything until it looked like we would miss out on the top four and he then used the tactics all the fans had been crying out for. That just about saved him.He has been given nearly all his targets in the summer and after a bright start it is deja vu all over again.

We have a squad of players any manager would want in this league and we should be able to cope with injuries. This is where a manager earns his corn.He adjusts the tactics to his personnel and gets results. He DOESN'T keep on saying ''We will play the same way'' even when it isn't working, when the opposition has sussed you out and the players coming in are getting run ragged using those tactics.

We have made a rod for our own back waiting for Pepe. No manager wants to come knowing they are a stop gap so we are stuck with a fucking disaster. The shit will really hit the fan if Pepe DOESN'T come! We have missed out on Klopp and Ancelotti will probably have another job by then. If the dippers win this weekend they will be THREE points behind us with the momentum....that is terrifying.

Either we tell Pepe to resign and get here now or we pay Ancelotti a fortune for the short term to stop the rot now.He may take it,if he wins a couple of trophies his stock rises even further and he has his pick of top jobs.Or we stick with what we have.....if we do it is going to be a long fucking season!

The owners proved they had a ruthless streak when they got rid of Hughes....they have to do so again.

The players and their attitudes have certainly got a lot to answer for. The lad said most of the players just trudged off today, no acknowledgement for the support they got at the ground apart from Hart who seems to feel the pain. Too many of our players just see this club as a gravy train.

Nah don't worry we have already qualified but this game is far more important than today's fake result I'm sure that will be the word from the manager..

Spot on.

Not happy with the "no January signings" position, Demichelis is now clearly past his sell by date and it just hasn't happened for Bony. We need another center back and a proper back up for Aguero, Kelichi nowhere near good enough yet.

Always been the same, endemic of the country, for the last 50 yrs while i've been working, shite management !
Can't blame the players, no defensive system or structure, as for dithering Joe !
Up for 4 my arse !!
