Stoke post match thread

Felt like I was standing and singing on my own half way down 109 (k). Bullshit. Get off your fucking arses or sell your tickets to someone that will.

Flat as a pancake, the crowd were terrible, most may as well have not turned up they contributed nothing, the players were flat and looked tired, Stoke were terrible to watch, we had no urgency until the last five minutes, ref was shite and added 4 minutes for about 15 minutes time wasting... what a boring night that was!

Might not have been so bad if we put away one of the chances we got.

Overall we were the better side but that doesn't always translate into 3 points.

I see people still think the players are some sort of machines that can be played every game, we don't have that luxury like Chelsea or Leicester last season with our upcoming schedule, simple as. Would've won the game yesterday if we took our chances and then we wouldn't have so much moaning on Pep not taking the PL seriously and the rest of this BS

That was frustration in extreme. We were flat. Stoke were happy to spoil with admittedly some organised defending, half full stadium and even less cared to make an atmosphere that was either brought on to or by the players. The result leaves us right in the mix of ranking 2-4 where we could've had some breathing space.

Let's hope it doesn't spoil some momentum of a good run of results. Because if it does we might be out of two competitions by this time next week. And as I and many cant see us win the title that would be halfway through March and season over. Not many would expected that with Pep as a manager.

It is all about how the manager prioritizes the various competitions.

Chelsea are not playing in Europe and still did not turn up for EFL cup. They are going for PL and FA Cup.

Pep had more options and he I think wisely decided to de-prioritize EFL Cup early on in the season. At this point in season he had to decide where will he put his best team and I think on his list Champions league is number one but today he showed his hand and seem to indicate PL is not such a priority.

I do not agree with him and would have preferred giving it all in PL even with odds against us. Going for the FA Cup and being happy with top 4 seems so like Arsenal.
I think Chelsea have a free run but you have at least try and catch them. If nothing else it puts you further cemented in the top 4. Madness to throw those points away last night. Arrogance as per.

Stoke got it right to nullify the wings and try and counter. Is odd that with Kev, Yaya and Ferny in the midfield, most of passes from them, the majority went back to the back four. The game was crying out for Silva to move and create space in the Stoke midfield from as early as the 10th minute.

would have feared Stoke more if Crouch had played. He's a bit of a bogey player aganist us, so knowing he wasnt playing just told me that Stoke came for a draw and hope to sneak a goal. And for the majority of the game, we created knowing threatening through the middle until Dave came on.

Agree entirely, it just didn't work out for us last night. When we did create a chance we couldn't get a shot on target. Clearly we do not have the depth of squad that we need especially with injuries to Gundogan and Jesus.

The lack of tempo at the start of our games has been a regularly disappointing recurring these this season. We then put pressure on ourselves late in game. I can only assume that our stats for early goals are extremely poor. The decision to not start Dave was piss poor

Seriously garbage passing by the whole team last night.
Still we didn't concede, so that's a bonus.

that was a glimpse to the bad old days of frustration, best consigned to the history books never to be spoken about again

Last night's game was more important than Monaco and Boro. Playing players like Navas essentially admits a dense of arrogance, Pep was far too slow to admit his mistakes and change it. What's Nolito got to do to get a game?

Was piss poor game but we had enough opportunities to win that game. We so missing a 6 foot plus attacker though.

Guadiola is doing exactly what Pelligrini did, he`s tossed off the milk cup, which would be fair enough apart from we threw it personally to the Scum. last night through team select we handed the title to Chelsea. Just who were we saving Sterling and David Silva to play against.

I'd argue you lose Monaco and Boro you win nothing this season, so no, last night's game wasn't more important.

Further, people need to shut up about Navas. He played quite well last night and wasn't the reason we couldn't take our chances.

As for Nolito, he's done little the few times he's played. Huddersfield for example. Don't know why you think he deserves a game based off poor performances in training and in games.

Pure hyperbole.

Unsurprising from a poster who has waited quite some time to bring back the "no better than Pellegrini" bullshit.

Saying that KDB, Yaya, Sane, Aguero, Dinho et al was evidence we handed the title to Chelsea is an insult to the quality of those players. You think that squad wasn't good enough to beat Stoke? We had our chances but just didn't take them.
