Stoke post match

I think Sky wanted to spin a yarn about Pep finding out about how hard the Premier League is at Stoke away and Mourinho's experience could make the Rags favorites... but we ruined the script with that scoreline. :)

Exactly this.....we completely spoilt their script and are hating it

Quinn has taken his hatred of us to another level.

Let him hate us. Let everyone hate us it shouldn't matter. It should make us more partisan!

Come match day at least, we should be using everyone's hatred for us against them.

Sing songs about the cunts on matchday. Not much worse than having a full stadium hating on you. We should make a song for Quinn immediately!

Souness and Quinn look depressed that City won. Before the game they were saying how hard this game would be for Pep and he would struggle with this. Pep isn't a school kid ffs

Really good 3 points. Tough place to win. Certainly not the stylish play we had midweek, but considering there must be a lot of tired legs out there we still ran 10km further than Stoke as a team, this match was won with hard work! Well done lads, don't think we'd have won that last year.

Also might have to go find the guys on the transfer forum that said we had no impact players on our bench to which I disagreed hmm... Great impact from Nacho & Nolito.

I thought that was a seriously impressive performance. An absolutely ridiculous penalty decision threatened our control.

Exciting to think what we could do, but lets remember that we started equally well last season and petered out so feet on the ground,

A very tough game I thought. Stoke were aggressive and pressed hard which, along with the wind, made the game difficult to manage. We started to become overly ambitious in our passing as the pressure became more intense and that led to possession being lost more often than I would like, either out for a throw in or gifted back to Stoke.

John Stones looks so calm and assured at the back. Silva's movement and ball retention was top notch and Sterling, in the first half especially, looked dangerous every time he touched the ball.
We look solid at the back and very dangerous up front and that is a tough proposition for anyone. Nolito's movement and interplay is lovely to watch and Kalechi, despite miscontrolling the ball several times, set up two goals with his brilliant movement and footballing awareness.

For now, it is a case of picking up results until the injured players and the new ones return from injury. Along with an embedded philosophy and experience of playing it, these are going to be the key factors in an exciting season ahead.
