Stoke Vs City Post Match Discussion Thread

I think the team has been living on the individual talent of players for far too long. There seems to be very little pattern to our play. The best teams can bring players in and out of the team and still play largely the same way. For us, if certain players aren't playing, or aren't playing well, the whole thing breaks down. It reminds me of England back when we used to have good players in most positions, but they struggled to string 3 passes together, especially if pressured. Our passing is slow and the only time we seem to have any purpose is in the last 5 minutes when we need to score. Obviously it takes time though, so I'm not panicking just yet.

If we continue to struggle in these games playing our 'tiki-taka' style this season, no matter who the manager is, the club needs to consider going the Bayern Munich route of having two of the best wide men in the world (they have Robben and Ribery, we could have Reus and Navas?) and basing our game not just around width, but variety of play with two threats from out wide but also at least one creative force in the middle (Silva) behind ONE striker. We're ridiculously predictable, it's so clear... Stoke will be laughing at how easy it was today, we didn't even sting Begovic's hands once.

Lots of games coming up, but can't help think it would be better to establish a side, let them settle, and then ease in our fringe players.

I don't think it works playing a different team and style every game.

If honest, I'm sh€ting my pants

Got to admit I've not really been blown away by our start under MP, if anything bit alarmed but there is over reaction from some too.

It's still early days, I thought we'd hit the ground running but we are clearly adapting to playing differently, we've had injuries and I genuinely only see us getting better as the season goes on, but to stick up for those complaining we have been pretty ordinary to say the least.

Next 8 days are crucial, two wins & we are well placed in Europe & at home, two defeats & we're already playing catch up. I do think we are only 1 good performance & a good win away from finding form, but it has been a mixed start, the good news is we're well in touch, we'll get better & we've only scratched the surface of the season.

Just hope that by the end of the season the owner isn't kicking himself that he took Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiriatain assessment on Mancini and got him sacked...

Nasri does nothing except pass sideways or backwards.

Yaya is wasted playing so far back.

Why bring Navas on and then have Zaba bombing it down the right acting the winger?

What was with all the long balls?

We didn't lose only because of bad finishing by Stoke, so the signs are worrying.
