Stoke Vs City Post Match Discussion Thread

Before you all criticise too much consider that City have lost Kompany, Demichelis, Richards and Clichy. That is our best back 4!!!

We've got through a difficult fixture when we were very much weakened.

I think we will now start to move forward

Would've been worse with Dzeko out there. You think we lost possession with the team we had today?! It could've been worse with him. We did look better when Aguero was on.

Antiunited dislikes this comment

Time for USA to do a bit of homework and look at the stats his Yank mate published that showed Dzeko was good at holding the ball up.

I don't begrudge Negredo getting his chance but blaming Dzeko when he wasn't playing is a bit bizarre.
True, good job he didn't do it then isn't it?

If we continue to struggle in these games playing our 'tiki-taka' style this season, no matter who the manager is, the club needs to consider going the Bayern Munich route of having two of the best wide men in the world (they have Robben and Ribery, we could have Reus and Navas?) and basing our game not just around width, but variety of play with two threats from out wide but also at least one creative force in the middle (Silva) behind ONE striker. We're ridiculously predictable, it's so clear... Stoke will be laughing at how easy it was today, we didn't even sting Begovic's hands once.
Tiki-taka? I wish it was. That suggests a certain amount of tempo and comfort on the ball, not the pass, hold it for 7 seconds in your own half, look up, then pass sideways or backwards. It's way too easy to pressure us into mistakes by pressing the ball. Try that with Barcelona and they'll rip you to pieces, unless you happen to have the quality of Bayern.

The guy has pulled us out of the mire so many times with important goals, u gotta be joking.
Any oppo who saw him not starting would automatically get a lift.
You may not rate him but he's one of our most feared players

sorry mate. too lazy, fact

Oh dear. I had a bet the other week that we would finish in the top two. With each game my confidence I'll win that bet diminishes. Totally disjointed team and can somebody please ask Pellers not to play Garcia as a center back. Heart in mouth defending.
Garcia was very good today. Stop listening to the biased commentator. He read every play well and intercepted 3 balls. Was quick to harras the forward, and gave up a professional foul before anything developed.

Rather than complimenting these intelligent decisions, the dumb commentary guy kept whinning about him not being comfortable, and acting like a midfielder. Total bullshit. Had 3 solid interceptions, and closed down his man quickly. Made a mistake after correctly reading a pass and intercepting it, but tried to clear a ball under his foot quickly and bubbled it. Only mistake of the game. Yet, the commentator whined all game, and so did many on here.

He is a solid player.

Would agree with most of that. It was Paul Walsh I think, he'd decided before the game he didn't like Garcia and set about ignoring anything good he did. Typical shithouse commentator.

Garcia did ok today, not great but not bad either.

Sadly, this type of thing is more the rule than the exception - with commentators and with fans. They already know who's good and who's shit before the game starts and then it's usually pretty easy to focus on moments that confirm their beliefs and ignore those that don't.

We're definately going nown. Definately! No shaddow of a doubt. Not a decent player in the team. Worst team City have ever had!!! No excuses that we were missing our best defender, best creative midfielder, new centre back, left back and best forward for most of the game. No excuses at all. Yeh, deffo going down. Oh well - Championship next season. All our NEW fans are right. We are rubbish. Should have got Rafa/Davie in. Defence is awful. Two clean sheets in a row means nothing. As nor does top scorers in the league. Every top team beats Stoke at their ground. Im not supporting them anymore. Come on Chelsea!!!!!

If at first you don't succeed, suck seed.

Fair point Marvin but it asking a bit much for the defence to do better than a clean sheet. Nasti isn't bad either.

Is it just me, or does a combination of Kolarov-Nasri-Garcia tend to coincide with poor performances? Not just coincidence is it?

Yep two of the four defenders who got the cleansheet - it's their fault.

More scapegoating eh.

How hard would it be to say Yaya, Rodwell, Navas and mostly Pellegrini let us down?

I know some people aren't going to like this, but I thought for all his technical flaws, Kolarov was one of the few players, along with Kun and Navas that showed spirit out there today.
