Stoke Vs City Post Match thread

Is it just a coincidence that recently when we have more than 50% of the ball the opposition, irrespective of their league position or even league, seem to draw or beat us. Conversely with less than 50% of the ball we win ?

As Stokes manager puts it they chased the game in the second half and we (ie Stoke) paid the penalty.

You can't counter attack if the other team doesn't attack. This unfortunately happens all the time at home as team after team park the bus and defend with their lives.

Another factor is for whatever reason our back 5 as a collective has been dogshit this year, we can't keep a clean sheet if our lives depended on it.

Thats my point, our attack strategy works only when the other team attacks and our defence only works well when they we keep a purely defensive formation.
With much less of the ball our varied opponents can at worst draw and often beat our team.

Other top teams seem to have a flexible mix of players that can stay defensively minded even when mainly attacking.

A big thanks yet again to Shady's blog site for providing links to streams.

I had a decent stream for 90 minutes (only breaking up a bit in the last 5 minutes). I always seem to get Trevor Francis as co-commentator and I honestly think he fucking hates us - even my young son could see that some of his comments were out of order. I know he didn't have a great time at City and I don't think he did much for us either (injuries etc.) and he was mates with Mancini but I was tempted to swirch to a stream with foreign commentary.

100% Correct. Francis has a very anti City agenda.

Most observations of the game have been covered, but for my tuppence, once we took the lead (2-1), you could feel the relief in the team and then the change in the body language allowing us to play as sublimly as we did.

Great performance, great result. Let's hope we take that momentum forward for the remainder of the season.

Some work to shore up at the back, but that's not for this thread. Let's Enjoy

Special mention to the travelling support who were absolutely marvelous

Great result away to stoke! good to see Aguero getting on the score sheet again! Mangala best defender!

Watched the Chelsea v Everton..game on BT Sports looked for all the world to be heading for a draw..then a wonder strike from Willian from 25 yards..89th minute..so City finally nail the hoodoo..but Chelsea nick the win..drama..twists and turns..bout time City won, we've been bloody rubbish for weeks..title race back on.. gap still 7 pts..!

You clearly are NOT a city fan despite thrying to use clever words that could lead one way or another. I said on the pre match thread that you had been sussed, but I will give it to you, you are persistent.

A City fan for umpteen years - yeah right.

A handful of posts either slagging City or upping the achievements of our rivals suggests even Sad Cafe might be bored with you.

Anyway, keep plugging away and when CL is confirmed out of reach, come and rejoice here with us all on BM. (or will you be back under your stone then)

I called him out straight away, his 1st post was ludicrous. Why would you be watching Chelsea vs. Everton on BT when you could get a good feed for our match from Shady's blog?

The goal of the night was the Milner header, for me.

The passing and movement - that has been none-existent for months - was amazing on that right wing and the run, cross and header for Milner was class.

A wonderful goal!
Not just on the wing either, it started from Mangala's pass.
