England beat Serbia and they're all but through.

So 8 game before the season ends and 2 straight after. I would say only 1 of those Serbia games is necessary and that's assuming Serbia are perfect from now (they wont be).

Surely a Guehi-Branthwaite centre half pairing can get us through that playing with fucking pipe and slippers no need to risk Jonny boy.

If you’re talking about league games, he’s only once played more than 25 and that was in 2016/17, when he played 27.
However, if you’re talking about all competitions, he’s only twice not played 25 in a season, which were 2019/20 (24 games) and last season (20 games).

That suggests that he’s rarely been any different since he joined and the idea his injury record is a recent thing just isn’t right.

I do know, I’d much rather see him playing than not.
I like him by far our best defender and would love to see him play more
I would argue that initially when he signed he had more errors in him and wasn’t always first choice hence less appearances early doors and his injuries came later and restricted his appearances in his later years but who knows

Probably a bit of both tbh.
What I see, whenever I watch him, is that he makes the team so much better. That’s not to suggest he’s the greatest player ever but he definitely makes everyone else look better. Lewis had what might have been his best game, Bobb looked very good in the first half especially, Nico looked like a proper player, he enabled Reindeers to do good things and even Dias didn’t look as catastrophic as he did last season.

Not just City either. He makes Maguire look twice the player when he plays for England, as opposed to playing for the rags.

I think a fully fit John Stones might well mean the difference between a full on title challenge and just setting for the ‘4th place trophy’ (©️A. Wenger).

I’m sure they will have been a meeting with Pep and the medial team on how to manage Stones through the season. Including but not limited to game time when on duty, training regime, recovery, etc. It is in all parties interests that he stays injury free.

Called up for England, probably see him in a City shirt again around February after his latest injury sustained on international duty.
I am sure someone debunked that myth and pointed out he has got injured for England maybe once. Might be wrong. For a player who has been injured for half of his career here, it is harsh to level all that at England.

Whilst he s fit and making himself available for England then he will be picked. A fit John Stones is a very good player and with a world cup coming up I imagine he fancies a piece of that. Maybe after that we might see him retire from international football, which he might need to do to prolong his club career.

It's not solely about when he gets injured, it's the accumulation of games in a short space of time.

Which is on him, he either makes himself unavailable for England or we have to live with him being called up. It is also poor we rely so heavily on a player who can't play an accumulation of games consistently

England need Stones. If Stones wants to play for his country he should do. Short career and all that. It's up to Tuchel to manage his minutes if he wants a fit Johnny Stones going into the World Cup.

Agree - I can understand Tuchel wanting to use him against Serbia, but if he plays against Andorra it's madness.

If I speak...

I am just hoping this is a way to rest him but why call him up in the first place.
