Stop fracking

Stop Fracking is another one of those causes thats derailed by the people who support it. I dont agree with fracking, but when i see the people who are protesting i want them to frack the fuck out of anything and everything. Bearded weird men in sandals, bearded weird women in sandals and bearded weird students in sandals. Theres a load of causes that are ruined by people like this and if they had any sense theyd ban them.

It's a no brainer. We have some of the most expensive energy costs in the world and here is a way to bring down those costs that is no more intrusive than the alternatives.

Fixed.

Thats the debatable part of it.

Based on whats going on in the US its very damaging to the local environment and causes a lot of methane seepage into the atmosphere which is a major green house gas.

While there is no doubt we need do something as we have major energy needs, fracking should have been tested a lot longer in stringent test areas before we allowed it so widely.

Except we haven't allowed it so widely. All current fracking for shale gas in the UK is small scale for testing and exploratory purposes. It's nothing like the scale of what's happening in the USA and the regulations here are a lot tighter.

Unfortunately we're running out of options more money should have been spent on renewable energy solutions and undoubtedly it will in the future nuclear isn't the way forward (and that's from someone who's been a nuclear engineer for the last 30 years) but the problem exists here and now, get your head out of the sand.
Good post. I've worked in the Nuclear Power Station industry too - an excellent example of risk not equaling outcome - so until there is a better solution, fracking prolongs the role of fossil fuels in plugging the current energy requirements problem
