Stories of meeting City fans in unusual places

Another one from me. I went for a job interview in Norwich and the guy interviewing me asked me if I supported City or united. Obviously I told him I was a Blue and, with that, he got his wallet out and passed me his City season ticket. What was even more bizarre was he sat 10 rows in front of me in 102 (which we were in for our first few years at the Etihad.

We went to get a coffee from the vending machine, and there was another City fan there, so the three of us chatted City for a few minutes. When the interview finished, I walked out of the building and straight in front of me was a woman with a City hat on.

Did you get the job?

Happened to me once, hired off the back of being a City fan. Didn't work out in the end, nice fella but I ended up working away too much and left soon after for a better paid job. Probably should've handled it a bit better in hindsight but if you're reading this, Anthony, I got the £500 you tried to take off my final pay cheque pal.

Not really a City fan meeting. I was working in Oman around ten years ago. I got in a taxi at Muscat Airport to travel to the Crowne Plaza. The Omani taxi driver was listening to a radio programme in Arabic. Something caught my ear and it was a mention of Sergio Agueeeero!

I could pick out the odd word here and there and it became apparent that the programme was all about Sergio and the dramatic end to the QPR match.

A supermarket in Malaysia early 2000s. Was approached by very excited man wearing a city top he'd noticed me in mine and wanted to say hello. Mother in-law translated think his favourite player was Peter Barnes or Ali b. He then went on his way singing feed the goat.

It was a very surreal day out as earlier i witnessed a little girl wearing trainers with rollers skates inside crash into the shelves as she'd never seen a European before.

Left Manchester to move to West Yorks in 2003. The house next door was for sale and empty for a while then one day there was a knock on the door. A family stood there, lads in City shirts, saying “we are your new neighbours”. It turned out his seat was the row behind mine and the same seat number in the same block and we could literally touch each other and chat at every game. We became mates and travelled to games including Europe together after that.
Yikes. Is that a yorkshire thing?

I was in a convenience shop in Taipei buying a bottle of water, which you need cos it is roasting and humid. The Taiwanese lad behind the counter sees my shirt and removes his company jacket to show the same shirt. We had a nice little chat but then his boss got a bit miffed so I left. If you are reading this, sorry, mate, I didn't intend to drop you in the shit with your knobhead of a boss.

Not quite a city fan but when I was doing my driving test 17 years ago, the test examiner asked what I would usually be doing on a Saturday so I told her I would be at city. She said you're playing Newcastle today aren't you? My husband is a city fan too.
Also turns out her daughter was doing the same degree as I was doing at the time.

But did it get you the job, bit awkward if not

Weird one, got serenaded with rag nursery rhymes by a load of Danes in Ibiza during the 98 World Cup in France (was wearing the previous seasons home shirt) I thought they where taking the piss so gave some back, turns out they thought it was a rag away shirt & never heard of City, cue mass history lesson & chants of Blue moon ringing round the harbour
