Strike

Hold on a minute here. You work at a place that until reccently supplied you with milk and juice?

Yeah milk for brews or coffee. Diluted juice for those who didnt drink either of those. I work in an office. If anyone works in an office without a brew or a drink all day then fair enough. I'm not bothered about taking my own in or going out for one but some people thought it was the last straw. Like I say this is in addition to several other things and is not really relevant on its own.

-- Tue Mar 19, 2013 10:33 pm --

30 years gives 3/8 of his final salary
and why not be on a good number, he's earned it

Not disputing that. My mum worked over 30 years for he NHS and again is on a decent pension. My dads was a fairly shit school and my mum wiped arses amongst other things for years so they both deserve it. Especially as they had a poor upbringing. I should be prouder than I am I guess

Anyway they are spending it alright, more holidays than Judith Chalmers.

Aye o.k mate, I was imagining everybody getting a bottle of milk and a juice box at break time like the kiddies used to get (milk that is). My wife works for a big law firm and they have stopped providing lunches. They used to have lunch catered in every day. I get nothing personally unless I go out and get something. We don't even have anywhere to crap so I usually get a coffee at crap time.

Ha ha. Yeah we get a biscuit at 11am as well.

Funnily enough I get a lunch allowance of £50 a month. Thought this was dated but the head office down south has a subsidised canteen which is why hey do it.

I take it the ones who break the strike will not accept any of the benefits if you win?
They really piss me off scabs. They'll happily reap the rewards for other peoples sacrifices.

Perhaps if you didn't outsource your employment (agency's, trainee back to work schemes) the government, and us, wouldn't be in the tits up position it's currently in.

Oh yeah, it gives the workers less rights which allows the multinational company's to rake it in and lend at a lower rate.

Fuck the private sector eh. Perhaps this 'easy for years' statement is just. Enjoy it in the trenches.

Just playing Devil's Advocate here...........

The contract of employment you signed in 1981 was fit for purpose in 1981.

Contracts should be subject to change, albeit following appropriate negotiation etc.

That's the sodding point though.

The contract that I, and my employer, signed then should stand.

I disagree.

But I do agree that change should be subject to meaningful consultation and negotiation.
Then what happens when the workers dont agree ? Management /Goverment try to force it through .resulting in the strikes

Usual turnout in my office today, about 50% of staff are in. A day without lefties in the office, i enjoy strike days.
