We had a reasonable set of players. We were a comfortably just in the bottom half team, maybe even mid-table with a manager who knew what he was doing.

Pearce nearly got them relegated.

We had nobody who could put the ball in the ******* net though...
I don't like Pearce and the football was shit but he kept us up.

I think it was a few years ago Danny Mills (The ****) had said Jon Macken was going to kill Stuart Pearce for what he had done putting David James up front.

Great player though :)

He did have a very successful playing career but think his coaching career may have been hampered by coming across as a yes man with Graham Taylor.

Bit harsh on Phil Neal mate, at least he had the balls to accept the poisoned chalice that we were back then when nobody else would touch us. Could very easily have run away when Coppell did but he stayed and tried. He gets a little bit of my respect for that.

Not only was/is Pearce a football knowledge vacuum, he’s as thick as a whale sharks widge..! He can barely string a coherent sentence together …!
