Quinn 85 posters Tyler 56 posters.

I was so bored I added it up.

60% Quinn 40% Tyler

My vote.....It doesn't sound like either of them and there are newspaper quotes attributing the word to both of them, hence the confusion.

But listen to it again....the whole thing. First time imagine it's Quinn, now imagine it's Tyler.

If that's Tyler you have to believe that he tails of, leaves a gap and then suddenly screams from out of the blue "Stupendous"

Whereas if you believe it's Quinn you have to believe that's how he starts his sentence.

Given that everything after the word "Stpendous" (Quinn) is at the same level as the word itself but that everything before (Tyler) wasn't..

The majority are correct. It's Quinn.

No its not. I will bet anyone £100... If and when we get confirmation that it's Tyler.

Haha. I'm afraid it is....but good luck with your bet.

Confused as to why Tyler would give an interview about this if Quinn had said it, but what do I know.

Tyler gave an interview about saying the word 'stupendous'? Was it with Paxman on Newsnight? Was past my bedtime so must have missed it.
It was on Hawksby and Jacobs on talkSPORT on the Monday afternoon after winning the league.

Yes it was and I've listened to it all. At no point does he claim saying stupendous. If he did post the link and the time. He talks about his commentary in general.

Some people just repeat bollocks because they can't be arsed to check.

No he's right I remember now, they specifically asked him about the word stupendous, they said "if it was you who said it why did it sound nothing like you and exactly like Quinn" to which Tyler admitted he had been for impression lessons with Rory Bremner and had spent two weeks learning to say the words 'stupendous' and 'calamity' in a Quinn-style voice - so either word would fit a certain moment in the match.

"It was much harder to practice than the Andy Gray TakABowSun" Tyler also candidly added

'You aint heard nothing like the Mighty Quinn Impression' he then sang in an uncanny Dylan-esque snarl, it was great radio

Re: stupendous

I'm firmly in the Tyler camp, so much so that I was convinced until recently that the Quinn posters were taking part in some mass wind-up. I still think some are. It's just so obviously Martin Tyler that if you've listened to him down the years I can't see how you could mistake his voice. I can't hear the Irish accent that many are claiming at all.

This won't be settled until Tyler or Quinn confirm who said it. Newspaper reporters and bloggers are just reporting what they think they hear, and the Talksport interview with Tyler available online does not specifically mention the word stupendous.
