Noticing that many people in UK are anti anything American, actually Halloween was exported to America from Irish English and Scottish immigrants nineteenth century so it's not a yank import at all.

TV shows are now mainly American.
Films of course are, especially the ones that re-write history. They love them.
Halloween was celebrated in the UK in the 60's. Your mam bought a turnip/swede ? hollowed it out (and used it for your tea) carved a scary face out, stuck a candle in it and that was your Halloween.
Thanks to the yanks, it's now a multi million dollar business that lasts weeks.
Yes we are getting sick of being Americanised.
Black Friday is part of that americanisation.

Over here you rarely get a good deal in a sale, it's just promoted that you do.

Game shows where contestants are up against the clock and have to chose a number. Instead of making life easy working 1 to 15 or whatever, they fuck about chosing random numbers, backwards and forth and end up getting confused, wasting time picking the same ones and forgeting where they were.

Councils chucking tons of salt all over the roads every time there's the slightest hint at a flake of frost. Shitloads of it spewed all over every little side street and pavement. It's fucking idiotic. A colossal waste of money, it looks awful and it causes cars to rust, especially in a permanently damp climate like ours.

People should have to take responsibility for their own driving and vehicles - learn how to drive on icy surfaces and get winter tyres, or don't drive for the three days a year we have when it's properly icy.

Does my fucking head in.

In other countries they just say fit winter tyres and deal with it.

Halloween is perfect, they just have to waddle down the 'sidewalk' to their neighbours and if they're lucky enough to not get shot in the face, they're rewarded with several kilos of that plastic Hershey's shite that passes for chocolate over there.

A week or so ago I was feeling peckish and short in time so I thought that I would chance my arm at the Cornish Pasty Co.
Now I know that they are better quality than Greggs and I thought they might charge, say, double Greggs' price (which I would reluctantly have paid.).
I nearly had a coronary when I did see the price.
£7:39!!

You won't get anywhere over here without winter tyres but they don't help at all on ice.
The council still have to salt the roads.
Some places they just use sand which is great for not having our cars rust out but not great for the sewers.
They mostly use sand out in the country and salt in the Cities.
I use all season radials on my truck but the wife swaps out her tyres for snow tyres in Nov. Plus, she has an all wheel drive car.
