Sturridge - I love Man City, but I was right to leave

I really like Sturridge. Was a great talent, and hopefully will do well at Bolton. Better than Jo and Santa Cruz every day of the week. Think, had Mancini been in charge when he was around things may have been different; he tends to give Youth more of a run out, particularly in cups, than Hughes.

He'd be in the exact same position here as he is at Chelsea: fourth choice forward

Tevez/Dzeko/Balotelli/Sturridge

Drogba/Anelka/Kalou/Sturridge

So Torres would be 5th choice?

Agree with the sentiment though; a team like Bolton seems about his level.

very arrogant comment

What annoys me about Sturridge going to Chelsea was they were taping him up since he was 15 yet we decided not to report them, think the regime we have here now would of reported them but we had Hughes in charge then who cared more about Chelsea than us.

No way, Hughes was really upset with Sturridge leaving. You played hard ball over taking us to tribunal. If you could have got us on tapping up, you would have.

Perhaps under Mancini he'd have stayed, but A.Johnson isn't getting that much of a look in, you know how Mancini likes to pack the formation with midfielders.

I know it's not the same as Balotelli didn't come through the youth system ,but, they are similar types of players, strikers with skill, pace, goals.

In terms of talent Balotelli is ahead of him, but perhaps Sturridge wants to succeed more & has a greater overall attitude.

I hope we get to see Mario at his best, consistently, it'd be a shame if we don't & he ends up Robinho-like.

Did u forget united did the same to berbatov, stealing him from manchester airport without permission from spurs to speak to him, i can remember Levy saying in an interview that united didnt have permission to speak to berbatov, thus is why Levy is still there united won't get any of their players

Sturridge was mismanaged by the buffoon that was Leslie Hughes, if it wasn't for his incompetence he'd have signed a new contract and would still be on our books to this day.

Eventually he'll become a decent player, a few dozen international caps, up there with 15 goals a season.

Ironic though that at a time when we actually have ourselves a capable manager, who's slowly but surely getting there, you'll have some posters occasionally harping back to the 'good ol' days' of Hughes. The good ol' days of a manager who knew how to manage his players.

Unbelievable.

Anyway, I never particularly liked Sturridge's attitude/arrogance, but I wouldn't wish ill of him. The move to Chelsea was a bad one for his development, but at the same time the takeover wasn't the greatest of timing with regards the suitability of us as a club to a young player like him.

Hopefully his will be the last case of a gifted young academy player being released in such a fashion, his departure was farcical, and I wouldn't like to see a repeat.

Mancini would not have put up with Sturridge's attitude either, no need to bring Hughes into it.
it was very unnecessary, and inaccurate

Sturridge turned down an offer of a salary that was much more than a lad with his lack of experience deserved.

City's final offer to him was more than generous, IMHO.

I don't blame the club (whoever it was) for not bowing to his demands.

As the song went on 25th September, "There's only one greedy bastard!"

everyone knew he went to Chelsea for more money cos City wouldn't pay his demands. now he has grown up a bit and realised he needs to start showing what he can do first before he can demand anything.
